LG DIAGRAMMING "NOR"

Post by FlyHigh » Tue Nov 15, 2011 8:18 pm

I'm pretty comfortable with conditional diagramming but PT58 LG4 Q23 tripped me up today. It was a substitute rule tht I got wrong and I think I got it wrong because I misdiagrammed "nor."

I understand that

If A --> B and C

=

Not B or Not C --> Not A

I get that when drawing contrapositives you negate and switch & --> or and or --> and but what if the rule says nor?

"If X is taken, then neither Y NOR Z can be taken"

Would this be diagrammed as

X --> not Y AND not Z

=

Y OR Z --> not X

Thanks guys!
