I am taking the december test in 3 weeks, and I want to get a 180 to compensate for my low GPA. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice?
I've been scoring in the low 170's for about a month now (170-172), pretty consistently. I miss anything from 6-8 on LR, 0-1 on games, and 1-4 on RC.
I've been trying to untime myself again (that's how i improved to a 170 in the first place), and I got a 176 untimed. Untimed means I take as long as I want to fully analyze every question, etc. I still cannot get myself to a 180 or even a foot in the 177-180 range. I know that I need to improve on LR, but I can't seem to improve despite me going over every PT a couple of times comprehensively.
What should I do for the next 3 weeks to improve my score?

Cut the 6-8 on LR in half at a minimum would be a good start. At that point, it seems like it's just kinda luck and making sure you don't commit dumb mistakes. Unfortunately I'm not in the 170s yet so I cannot help you more.

Quick question - you say that you've gone over every PT a few times comprehensively. Is it possible that you're inflating your score by retaking things you've already scored and reviewed? Or are those 170s from the past month from fresh tests?lawardgoo wrote:I am taking the december test in 3 weeks, and I want to get a 180 to compensate for my low GPA. Sorry about that, let me qualify my statement. I meant I went over all the PT's I've taken a couple of times to go over the things I've gotten wrong. So the 170's were fresh scores. In terms of doing all of the practice tests, I've done maybe 35 practice tests, and I got a 170-172 for probably the last 25 tests (except 1 where I got a 169).
Thanks for all your advice. Please keep them coming! I really would like to score something high in the 170's.

Your untimed PT method sounds interesting, seems like a good way to fully understand each aspect of a question while PT-ing and then applying it to timed tests. Think I might try it tomorrow.
Concerning your lack of movement, you might want to try going to and getting involved in the 10 weeks to a 180 thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... &start=225 if you haven't already, we have similar problems and find ways to get passed them.
