161, retake in Dec and hope to get a 170+?
hey guys!
I'm a foreigner and would like to pursue a JD degree in America, hoping to get my shot in T14. I studyed LSAT for about 3 months and got a 161 in June, 2011. I have used PT1-58 in my preparing. Now I have registered the Dec LSAT and hope to get a 170+. I start preparing again in October, and did PT41-52 again, with an average about 168. I'm not sure if this is a reliable indicator about my real LSAT score: after all, I did it twice, although I can hardly remember the content of most questions, except for the topic of RC.
My question is: 1. should I be optimistic about my average score of PT41-52? 2. What should I do in the last month of preparing?
Thanks!!

I would be very cautious about accepting your new practice scores as 'reliable' . before my last (3rd) retake I was pt-ing in the mid to upper 170's and scored below that. (the same thing happened to me on my second retake.. i was scoring 167-171 and recieved a 164....
so just subtract 5 points from your score or something like that and that will more than likely be an accurate indicator of your scores.
however, i would recommend practicing in a way that it works for you. i had run out of material by my second retake and i just kept taking timed-pt's and reviewing them carefully. since you have the basics, work on fine-tuning and not making careless mistakes.
ill PM you with more specifics

If I were you I would do some drilling by question/passage/game type and work on my weaknesses. Also, I found the most useful part of my prep to be reusing preptests. Practice makes perfect. I think you should definitely retake.

Since you are retaking in December perhaps you shouldn't waste time going over question type's that don't give you trouble...just a suggestion! Best of luck to you!!

its possible to go up that many points, i had a friend who went from 162 to 170 in a matter of 1 month however you better have the discipline to sit down and really study and work on where your weaknesses lie

I found people here are really polite. If I could really do such a good job, half of the merit should be owed to you guys!!
