crazy fluctuation. can I be lucky to get 170?
I'm signed up for the oct test..
My scores on PTs fluctuate too much even at this point..
I got
46-170
47-163
48-166
49-166
50 -170
51-165
52-162
53-165
54-162
A-164
B-169
C-170
It seems like the three tests that I got 170's on are probably when I was lucky.. right?
Is it possible that I can be lucky on only certain tests??
My friend said once I've broken 170, it's possible to get it on the real test.
But mostly I'm getting mid-160. ahh.. And today on 54, I got -9 on RC. Perhaps, my understanding of the LSAT is
diminishing......
Has anyone had the similar situation..? Any suggestions how to study from now on till Oct?
My biggest problem seems to be the RC after the test 50. On LG, I rarely miss any question.
And LR depends on the test.

Who knows? I'm probably in the super minority here, but I scored 4 points higher on my actual LSAT than any practice tests I took

My last ten scores have been
164
166
159
165
173
170
164
169
164
165
I think my chances of a 170+ on gameday are about 1:30 though to be honest and I think anything I had above 167 was luck.

make sure u get a good test center man, or things may get very bad.

Speaking of test centers, I have a quick question: I'm opting to travel an additional half hour to test at a tiny no-name school rather than the biggest school in the state. Do you by any chance see any disadvantages to this maybe that I'm not seeing/overlooking?jlhero wrote: make sure u get a good test center man, or things may get very bad.

There have been horror stories relayed here ranging from having tiny desks to proctors audibly talking on their cell phones outside the testing room. I had an excellent testing environment at the large state university I took the LSAT at last year, and I'm retaking there again fwiwtyro wrote:That's not very persuasive. We have a member on these boards that scored a 158 the week before he 180'd his LSAT.

True enough, but that was far from his average.UnamSanctam wrote:We have a member on these boards that scored a 158 the week before he 180'd his LSAT.

Re: crazy fluctuation. can I be lucky to get 170?
maybe some timing strategies will help you.
Like trying to do the first 10 in ten minutes for lr.
Or bubbling in after every two pages.
Try rea's logic games book if you are not perfect there yet. I went through it two times in a couple weeks and after that I stopped missing questions.
Try 6 sections a test to build up endurance if you are getting tired.
Perhaps one of those sections could be 20-26 of Cambridge's 'hardest logical reasoning problems'
Go over wrong problems looking for trends. Write down why you miss questions.
Are you testing in different locations? different times of the day? Are you eating well? testing hungry/tired?

In other words it won't be luck.Angrygeopolitically wrote:maybe some timing strategies will help you.

You've hit 170 before, so assuming you took the PTs under real conditions then yes, you can hit 170 on the real thing.
But dude, you still have a month. Keep working and get that average up to 170. Then we can both be a lot more confident. Good luck!
