I plan on taking the October LSAT as a Junior this year, and I started studying the last few days of July. My plan was to study and take Prep Tests for about a month, and when I got close to the registration date, see where I was prepping and if I was ready to take it yet.
Well my first prep, a princeton review test, I got a 168 on with little studying. My next prep, a few days later with no extra studying, was a 171. My big problem has been RC, with 9x and then 5x on each respective test.
I went through the RC Manhattan book, really started to grasp the concepts, and at the end got 2x on the sample section, and completed it in only a minute over the time. (Time had been a problem).
Anyway, with those two scores, and with over a month and a half ahead of me for study time, is it safe to register now? I don't want the test center at my school to fill up.
I guess what I'm worried about is that my prep scores may drop significantly and I will regret registering. Is that type of thing common, or is it safe to say, as long as I keep studying and taking prep tests, that I will stay the same if not improve?

Re: When to Register
Your test center is more likely to fill up than you are to be scoring lower in October. Register yesterday.

Re: When to Register
You should have registered already. You can always move the test day, and seats fill up fast the closer you get to your location. If you don't register within a certain time, you are more likely to have to test somewhere further away. The more travel you have to do, the worse off you are, because all that means is less sleep and more stress. Register now. Congrats on the high score btw.

Re: When to Register
I would register ASAP, as long as you definitely want to take it in October. You could wait until June if you wanted to without any affect on your application cycle next year, assuming you do not plan on applying to schools until Fall 2012.
You can also withdraw up until Midnight the night before the test. However, if you do this, you will not get a refund at all if you wait until the very last minute, but you won't get an 'absent' on your record either!
