166 Diagnostic
And I'm a Puerto Rican male. Think I can get into the 170s and lock it up?

Re: 166 Diagnostic
If you're starting off at 166, you need to focus on controlling test day nerves and simulating test conditions while drilling your question type weaknesses. You're in a pretty decent place as it is.
If you're aiming for 170+, you should want to put your 10-test PT average at least at 173-174 to feel secure.

My weakest section is Logical Reasoning but I was perfect on Logic Games on my diagnostic. Is LR easy to improve?

Flame. No one gets a full logic games section on their diagnostic.

LG is considered the most learnable (with -0 on that, you're ahead of the game), but LR isn't too bad either. You need to take a look at the types of questions you're primarily missing and find a method that works for you.HYSnNothingLess wrote:My weakest section is Logical Reasoning but I was perfect on Logic Games on my diagnostic. Also, onthemoney, you're apparently looking at two.

I finished logic games with three minutes to spare. It's so easy if you just understand the rules and scribble a quick diagram on a nice piece of paper.onthemoney wrote:Flame. No one gets a full logic games section on their diagnostic.

Re: 166 Diagnostic
I got a 166 on my diagnostic, had a bit of trouble breaking into the 170s, but then started scoring consistently in the mid-170s the last couple weeks after getting through most of my prep work. I ended up with a 174, which was my most common score, though a bit disappointing, since I had a few in the high-170s. But you get the URM bump and a 174 puts you into HYS with a decent GPA.

Would Kaplan courses be a waste of money if I'm only struggling on Logical Reasoning?

Kaplan courses are generally a waste of money in general. I don't think you need any courses considering the level you're at right now. Smart self-study should be all you need.HYSnNothingLess wrote: OK thanks for the advice, my friend.

I have a 3.8 right now. I'd say + or - .05 by next June.PSUdevon wrote:I got a 166 on my diagnostic, had a bit of trouble breaking into the 170s, but then started scoring consistently in the mid-170s the last couple weeks after getting through most of my prep work. Re: 166 Diagnostic
166 is your cold score. If you put in even a little bit of work, you'll be into the 170s. No sense worrying whether that would or wouldn't.HYSnNothingLess wrote:I have a 3.8 right now. Possibly, but don't take this as a reason not to prep.HYSnNothingLess wrote: Would 3.8/166 get me HYS?

I think that sounds right. I don't see how anyone could get -0 on games with no training.onthemoney wrote:Flame. No one gets a full logic games section on their diagnostic.

I have the Powerscore Logic Games book (although I only opened it once or twice so far) and did do about five or six practice logic games over the summer. I think I just have a natural aptitude for it.

If you read the OP's later post's, the OP did not do it cold. If the OP can't face his own truth in an anonymous internet forum, I say on test day the OP's score will be way lower than the "diagnostic."incompetentia wrote:There are people who can -0 LG cold.

Re: 166 Diagnostic
For HYS? No. Hit a 170 and then you're probably in the conversation. 166 just won't do it. Check out law school predictor.HYSnNothingLess wrote:And I'm a Puerto Rican male. Think I can get into the 170s and lock it up?
Also, this should be in the "What Are My Chances" thread. Not LSAT prep and discussion...
