October 2011 LSAT - DC Study Group

Post by va801 » Sat Jul 09, 2011 6:06 pm

Hi there,

I'm currently living in the District of Columbia and getting ready for the October LSAT. I have surveyed my options for LSAT prep and decided that the best classes are too time intensive for my work schedule and are more than I'd like to pay considering that I won't be able to make all of the classes.

My idea is to have a study group that meets 2-3 times per week after work hours (around 6:30 pm) in a library or public space for 2-3 hours -- the end time would be flexible. We could aim to meet for two weekdays on average and then take a practice LSAT every other weekend from 10 am-2 pm to prepare for test format. Since I've never taken the LSAT before and would still like someone experienced to teach some useful things, we could have a tutor (probably a current law student who did well on the test) come once a week or twice per month to answer questions and give a general "class." The other times, I would come up with topics and assignments for us to cover.

Please let me know if you'd be interesting in joining. I'd like to start this study group in the next few weeks. I am definitely motivated for LSAT prep, but I think there's something to be said for "strength in numbers." Ideally, I'd like to study in the Dupont Circle or Farragut Square area, but this is negotiable. Current college students and college grads are all welcome!

Hi there, I work for Strategy Prep in DC (near GW).

If you want to take some of your practice tests with a bunch of other students (about 20 to 40, depending on how close we are to the exam), feel free to come to our office at 1875 I Street, NW (5th floor) on Saturdays at 10:00 am. We proctor it just like the real thing, with 5-minute warnings and a 15-minute break. And you can get your score right after it's over (usually around 1:30 pm).

It's $25 per test or $15 if you bring your own test. If you sign up for more than two exams, those rates go down.

You can sign up here:

And the first one's actually free:

This is the test schedule we're following (updated on July 2011), but you can request a different PrepTest when you arrive. Just let the proctor know which one you want (we have 39-62):

Sat 7/16 - Test 52
Sat 7/23 - Test 53
Sat 7/30 - Test 54
Sat 8/6 - Test 55
Sat 8/13 - Test 56
Sat 8/20 - Test 57
Sat 8/27 - Test 58
Sat 9/3 - Test 59
Sat 9/10 - Test 61
Sat 9/17 - Test 62
Sat 9/24 - Test 63

Good luck!
