new lsat procedures? picture taken within 6 months?
Candidates MUST bring a photograph to the test center on the day of the test. These photographs will be retained by LSAC.
Before you report to the testing location, you must do the following:
Attach a recent, clear photograph of yourself to the designated box on your LSAT admission ticket. (The photograph must have been taken within the last six months and must show only your face and shoulders.)
IS THIS NEW? WHATS THE INSIDE SCOOP??

Whoa, deep breath. This is a new policy as of the last LSAT administration (June 2011). Here's the link to the lsac policy http://www.lsac.org/jd/LSAT/day-of-test.asp
and here's the relevant language for the new requirement:
In addition, all candidates must attach to their ticket a recent photograph (taken within the last six months) showing only the face and shoulders. The photograph must be clear enough so there is no doubt about the test taker's identity, and must be no larger than 2 x 2 inches (5 x 5 cm) and no smaller than 1 x 1 inch (3 x 3 cm). Your face in the photo must show you as you look on the day of the test (for example, with or without a beard). The photograph will be retained by LSAC only as long as needed to assure the authenticity of test scores and to protect the integrity of the testing process.
Just go to Walgreen's or Kinko's the Post Office for a passport photo at around $8 if you can't find a friend to shoot a mug shot and have it print out at EXACTLY between 1" square and 2" square.
Thisreally is not a big deal but it is one more detail you need to give attention. Note the requirement that you need to look like the photo on test day (hair color, cut, facial hair, glasses, etc.)

If you're that worried about how you look in the picture, look for an NDA on the form.

According to posts here, some came unprepared and were allowed to chop up their driver's license for the photo. Still, it's best to be prepared.joebloe wrote:Mine wasn't anywhere near square and they didn't give a damn.

Wow, I feel like it's easier to retake the LSAT than get a new drivers license.fastforward wrote:According to posts here, some came unprepared and were allowed to chop up their driver's license for the photo. Really simple. Not that big of a deal. Read the instructions, print a picture, write the required info on the back, use a glue stick or paste if you want to eat the leftovers, and affix picture to ticket. Voila! No need to freak out.

We used to have to walk six miles in the snow to take the LSAT, but it only cost a nickle. Didn't need all these damn pictures. People took your word. Times were simple last year, just damn simple.

I legitimately walked through a blizzard for three miles from my test center.yngblkgifted wrote:We used to have to walk six miles in the snow to take the LSAT, but it only cost a nickle. Didn't need all these damn pictures. People took your word. Times were simple last year, just damn simple.

This has been SOP for LSATs outside the US for at least a year.
