PT 59 RC Hard???

Post by jortiz682 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 10:16 pm

Anyone else find this difficult or was I just suffering from mindmush? I went -6 on this one, and missed Q's on every passage. And struggled with time. On the plus side I was only -3 for the rest of the test, so I will take that. But...really don't want to go -6 on test day.

I didn't do as well as normal on this one, but I stopped caring for the RC section when I took it so my score mighta suffered because of that. I'm normally around -3, but on this one I went -8.

I found the RCs in the 50s and 60s generally difficult.

This one freaked me out too. I look it earlier this week and I got -5. I normally get -1/-0 on RCs (new ones included) so I started panicking. When I looked at the answers though, it was always the case that I narrowed it down to 2 and picked the wrong one. I think you have to pay more attention to the nuances in the answers.

I thought it was more difficult. I went -7 and there were an additional 7 I had circled because I was unsure about them. And I had time trouble, which left me only about 5 minutes to do the last passage, which under normal circumstances seemed like it would have been pretty easy.

This one led me to change my RC strategy - I used to just assume that passages 1-2 were easier than 3-4, but now I briefly skim all four passages to figure out what category they fit into and go in this order: humanities, social science, bio science, law. (I might switch it around based on which one the comparative passage is, or if a humanities/social science seems especially tough, OR if a bio sciences seems easy - I feel like the questions for the science passages tend to be a little more straightforward.) This has definitely helped with timing. My score still kind of sucks (usually about -5) but it's better than the -7's or -8's I used to get consistently.
