Help me please!!!

Post by JoeC12 » Fri Jun 03, 2011 5:04 pm

Ok so let me give everyone an indication of this horrible situation I find myself in. I am scheduled to take the LSAT in 3 days. My goal is a 158. My last few pt's have been 157,158,161,159 respectively. I figured that today I would take one more practice test, get my confidence up, and do absolutely no LSAT work till Monday to let my brain adjust. However, this strategy completely backfired on me.

Today I took the June 2010 LSAT and scored a 150!!! I'm freaking out. I got 10 correct on games (usually my best section) and 11 on the first LR. I don't know what the hell I should do. Am I burnt out? Over the past three weeks I have been dedicating about 4-5 hours a day on LSAT related work. At a time when my confidence should be high, it has absolutely tanked today. I'm now questioning if law school is for me. I'm lost. I have anxiety just typing this right now. Should I withdraw from the June test? Should I take it, see how it is and perhaps cancel? Please please someone help me.

Everyone has bad tests and good tests. I think it's important to realize that this score seems to be an outlier for you, not the norm. Chances are, come test day, you will be right up where you usually are. Relax, watch a movie..go do something to get your mind off it. I can speak from experience that all the anxiety and tears over a low score isn't worth it. Go kick butt!

I know but its just so hard to get my mind off of it. I can't mess this up after all the hard work I have put in already.

This happens to almost everyone. Calm the fuck down and review your test to see where you went wrong.

I predict a 164. Forget about further preparation. Sleep well & don't leave any questions unanswered.

If you haven't learned it yet, you won't learn it now. At the very most, do a couple questions and maybe, one RC passage on Saturday or Sunday, but otherwise, leave it alone!!!

Why don't you take an untimed one (where you will undoubtedly do better) and boost your morale? Trick yourself into thinking you are prepared for this.

Fox, while I do think that would be a great idea to gain confidence, I think at this point I'm better off just relaxing and getting away from the LSAT for a couple days.

You will be fine. A very similar thing happened to me in October. I scored normally on test day. Learn from your mistakes and move on. This was obviously just an aberration. You've got this. 160+ test day. 160+. good luck!

Edit: take it easy on the LSAT from here on out. You are as prepared as you are going to be. Light prep and then leave it alone the day before and do soemthing that will get your mind off of the test (enjoy yourself). Do a few warm-up problems the morning of the exam. Trust me, you've scored higher many times before. Know that, understand that and crush the LSAT on Monday!
