In my opinion, if you know the concepts, a 180 is always possible. The difference between 171 and 180 is 90% nerves.
That being said, it seems that splitters w/171s aren't much differently viewed than splitters w/176.

to get a 180 requires a bit of luck. You need to get the sections in a good order, get a favorable curve, and be in total control of your nerves. Games should be right up your alley as well. With a 171 it is very obvious that you know the concepts cold. Depending on your gpa, your essays and softs, and the time you submit- your cycle can play out differently. If you want a full ride- you should apply to schools outside the top 14- write a why school essay ( to prevent YP) and aim for the ones in the area you would like to practice in. Once you are out of the top 14 schools a lot of schools would overlook your gpa ( assuming it isnt redicolously low). If you have a super low gpa- and a good reason for it ( other than freshman idiocracy or working) write a gpa addendum.
Since you scored at the high end of your pt range, only re take if you are consistently scoring 4 points higher. Even then- IMO you dont need it.

How much can you increase your score?
Is LSAT "perfectable" with enough time?
Do you max out at a certain LSAT?
Is a 165 possible for anyone?
Is it Innate Intelligence or Work Ethic?
170+ LSAT - Acquired or Natural Ability
LSAT: Is it really whether you have it or you dont?
Why are some people really good at standardized testing?
LSAT measure intelligence?
LSAT and personality traits
intelligence vs LSAT
The LSAT is not learnable
