4th LSAT?
Hey guys so I have a cancel, a 165 in Oct. 2010 and a 170 in Dec. 2010. I know I can do a little bit better but nothings is a guarantee. I haven't gotten in to any T-18's, with a whole bunch of waitlists. I have a 3.25. Should I retake in June and defer? I'm in at Wash U and Illinois but feel a bit concerned about employment coming out of there.... if I defer I will hopefully teach English abroad for a 6 months- a year in order to bolster my application. Should I retake and defer or just defer and ED? Tough decision and I appreciate any meaningful input! Thanks.

Does anyone have input here on the impact of having a 3rd score versus 2? Some people seem to think that with a third score schools will start to average but with 2 scores they will simply take the higher, especially with this 5 point difference... What do you guys think?

i dont think it matters, the higher one is what they usually take. I also don't think multiples hurt unless your seriously a candidate for YTheSteelKid wrote:Does anyone have input here on the impact of having a 3rd score versus 2? I would say go for it if you really think you can do better. The ships already sailed for the schools that will average and for the ones that don't, even getting a lower score can't hurt you. Personally, I think everyone outside T6 doesn't average.TheSteelKid wrote:Does anyone have input here on the impact of having a 3rd score versus 2? P.S. I have 4 LSATs under my belt (no cancels) and have gotten into more than one T14, one of which is offering $.

I have to say though that with a 3.25, i think the problem isn't your LSAT but your GPA. The lower T14 might take you with a 175+, but T6 has too many 170+s throwing themselves that a 3.25 would be a deal breaker. IMO anyways.TheSteelKid wrote:Thanks guys! I agree that my GPA is horrendous. I did terribly for two years and then great for two years (3.67 as a junior and 3.91 as a senior in tougher classes). But having been wait - listed at so many good schools and that being with my application finished in January, it makes me think that applying in October with (hopefully) a higher LSAT score and the promise of better work experience starting soon will work to my advantage. Thoughts?

Applying early is key. IMO, Jan is starting to be on the late side. I think the consensus is before thanksgiving is early, before xmas is on time. After first week or so of Jan is late?TheSteelKid wrote:etlien wrote:I have to say though that with a 3.25, i think the problem isn't your LSAT but your GPA. yes 3.25 is a bit iffy for T14, but you have to put it into perspective. I don't think there is anything harder to get into than T14, bar Med School but that stuff is insane. My GPA doesn't break median at most T14s, but is higher than 75th percentile at a lot of their business school counterparts. The GPA numbers for law schools are just crazy.
