Music while studying
I study for everything with music; I've been hesitant with LSAT prep, but it calms me down. I'm looking for more music that generally doesn't have words, but isn't too intense.
I've been sticking to:
Bloody Beetroots
Daft Punk
Pantyraid
Don Rimini (Rave On adds a little confidence)
But that's pretty much it, and there's really only so many times you can figure out which class Holly belongs with while listening to "Around the World".
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good topic, I need suggestions too. Daft punk can be a little too much for me for studying but Deadmau5 realllly does the trick. Also gotan project really works for me, and radiohead too.
+1 to ratatat and sigur ròs

My two go to albums are Heaven or Las Vegas by the Cocteau Twins and Souvlaki by Slowdive, and Nowhere by Ride. Shoegaze works wonders for me.

Nothing. Oh sweet, sweet nothingness. Nothing like nothing to remind you of being a being and being in a constant state of being a thing that no thing cares a single thing about.

Miles Davis, Kind of Blue, is excellent b/c it is mellow but not too mellow. Coltrane is also good but some his later stuff as with Davis can get wild. I would also point you to the classical side because the tempo is good and predictable so works good as a background, is quality music and makes you feel good. I would recommend anything Maurice Andre if you like trumpet but there are plenty of others. Good luck in your studies.coldshoulder wrote:Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

You're not going to have music on test day.

Quite aware, but 1. We will be studying a LOT for months, so why make it unpleasant? If you are always bored or dread study time, that's not going to help. 2. I don't listen to music during PTs 3. I don't have issues with concentration in super quiet environments so I'm not too worried about replicating that so I can adjust to it.minnbills wrote:You're not going to have music on test day.

I hear you. I've never been one to listen to music while I study though.Eichörnchen wrote:Quite aware, but 1. We will be studying a LOT for months, so why make it unpleasant? Very well aware of that, but if I study for something calmly with music - I retain a lot more than just sitting in the library quietly rereading everything.minnbills wrote:You're not going to have music on test day.
caffeine + music + studying = conceptual party

in my brain at least
I visualize things way better with music and with a lot more energy.

Just be sure not to listen to music during PTs. Replicating actual test conditions during PTs is vitally important.
