Most fun Logic Game

Post by NorCalBruin » Tue Jan 04, 2011 5:33 pm

Now that I'm home, bored, apps all done, still awaiting my december score... in a strange way, I miss doing logic games.

Anyone else feel this way? Anyone care to share their favorite logic games?

My favorite is Prep Test 19, Game 3--Boats, Adults, and Children

I kind of secretly hope that the big dam north of my town will break one day, overflowing the river running through the middle of town. And on that day there will be children, adults, and some boats. And the Mayor will be like "AHH! We need to cross the river! Fuck! But John can only go with Fred, Sam cannot be with Tom, and each child must be with an adult! And if Mary is with Todd then Sam is not with Fred! Fuck! We are so screwed!"

And I'll be all like.. PSHH WHATEVER MAYOR, GOT THIS, PREP TEST 19, B*TCH---

...totally getting the keys to the city

Here are a few that come to mind for me:

Fun because of topic:

PT50 (September 2006), Game 4: Kid making rules while eating alphabet soup

Reason: it reminds me how absurd and silly these topics can be.

Fun because of logic:

PT33 (December 2000), Game 3: Jeweler selecting stones

Reason: the basic math involved in figuring out the different possible #s of stones selected from each category

Books on the shelves

3 shelves, with one book on the first, two on the second, and three on the third. Farsi and Hosa grammars, linguistics and semantics monographs, and novels by Wolf and Vonnegut. One of the tougher games out there, but it really taught me how to mentally organize information.

ski chalets, shoveling a single continuous path through all six with only 5 line segments. It was like a puzzle from elementary school, and it had a twist in the last question that pointed out you could connect the chalets in a way not immediately obvious to most people (myself included).

That one was cool. It can be a bit tricky if you're expecting a regular game type though.

I really liked the stones/mulch one from June 2010. It was so different from normal ones -- it felt more like a math problem than a traditional logic game.

Yeah I liked that beaker one for sure. Also like the plane one re: areas U V etc, though I struggled with that one. Kind of liked Lizzards, though it was hard.

First thought that came to mind when reading this thread title was "oxymoron" though.

I LOVED the appliance plug one mainly because it was so easy. After hearing people whine about mulch, I was surprised to see that it was a nice change of pace, and an easy game. Also, there are a bunch of games where 5-6 people have one or more of 3-4 items. Those were always good because they looked so complicated, but after a few inferences there were maybe three possibilities left.

I don't recall which prep test its from, but my favorite is the boys and girls dancing in pairs at the concert. You had to order them first, second, and third and determine who was dancing with whom. I also enjoyed the one about washing the dishes - silverware, glasses, and dishware because it looked like it had nine variables or so but after you read the rules there were something like 3 actual possibilities.

I liked drivers & runners in oct 2010 (games 1 & 3). Dr. Yamata was def. a confidence builder, that games a classic in terms of teaching methods of attack. Pilots & Copilots was cool, that was when I broke the 160 barrier for the first time and I was stoked. Runners & Sponsors from pt 7 I think was a good one too, total endgame that I couldn't figure out sitting down until I took it under timed conditions and nailed it in 2 minutes.
