Logic Games categorization question

Post by ComatoseClown » Thu Dec 02, 2010 4:02 am

I've observed that different prep books/blogs have different ways of categorizing the games.

One source classifies games as belonging under one of the following
  • :
    1. Relative Ordering
    2. Simple Ordering
    3. Complex Ordering
    4. In/Out Grouping
    5. Grouping (Distribution)
    6. Determined Assignment
    7. Undetermined Assignment
    8. Miscellaneous

Another source classifies games as belonging under
    • :
      1) Linear Games
      2) Grouping Games
      3) Hybrid Games
      4) Diagram Games
and I've heard the names Sequencing & Matching, as well. (Is Sequencing the same thing as Ordering from List 1?)

I'm confused -- Which names from List 1 would go under (or mean the same thing as) a name in List 2?
Please pair/match them, if you can.

Fasten your seatbelts...

1. Relative Ordering
2. Simple Ordering
3. Complex Ordering

Are all Linear. (Some Hybrid games would be considered Complex Ordering.) Sequencing is the same thing as Ordering.

4. In/Out Grouping
5. Grouping (Distribution)
6. Determined Assignment
7. Undetermined Assignment

Are all Grouping. Matching includes both types of Assignment games.

8. Miscellaneous

Includes Diagram Games and some Hybrid Games.
