Family is the reason I messed up on the LSAT
While I am not one for excuses, the 2 hours sleep, heavy nausea and bad testing conditions were all factors that suck but I won't complain about. I blame my family, putting so much pressure on me. When you have 4 people constantly folliwing your everyday PT scores, being upset when you score anything less than your highest score ever, constantly pressuring me to study even after PT's. Now I'm writing again and told my family to stay out of it, but when they found out that I'm working a few days here and there between now and the test they flipped out saying I'm going to fail because I won't be focusing on studying, which is ludacris (and no my parents aren't asian).
Anyone else have the same issue? How did you deal with it?

I feel semi-racist for thinking that they might have been before you clarified this.confusedlawyer wrote:(and no my parents aren't asian)

Re: Family is the reason I messed up on the LSAT
I know what you mean, I've been there. My advice is to just do your own thing, just shut them out of it, you are writing the LSAT for YOUR future, really it has nothing to do with them. Don't let the stress of their uncertainty and paranoia bother you when preparing and more importantly on test day. I found that the first time I wrote, when my parents paid for the test, drove me to the test center, got my ziplock bag ready, I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. The second time I paid for it myself, and drove to the test center myself, and although I didn't perform much better I felt no stress whatsoever during the test.
It's a tough situation, but remember that they just want to see you succeed, but don't let them put added stress on top of an already stressful exam.

My mom keeps comparing me to an idol of hers who scored a 179, even though she doesn't seem that smart. Fuckign sucks to be held up to such an impossible standard. I get a score better than 97% of the people out there, but I still don't match up. That sort of family pressure is fucking harsh.

My family doesn't know anything about the LSAT except that it's needed to get into law school, and they could care less about what score I get (I could seriously go to a TTT at full cost and they would be happy for me). Listening to you guys, that seems like a good deal (though maybe some parental pressure would have gotten me to study for more than a few hours for the SAT and gotten me into a better undergrad, but whatevs).

TITCR. naw but seriously, tell your family to back up off your grill. Pretend like you dont really care about the LSAT anymore, blow them off, tell them you got a 147 on your most recent preptest. Try to get them to give up on the idea of you getting over a 164 and going to a T20 so when it comes to test day no one but YOU gives a F how you do3|ink wrote:Murder your family.

Just tell them you got a 180, sounds like it's the only way they'll ever love you.

Clearly that is the point at which you gotta jump ship and skip town. Which leaves a very important question OP: You like Mexico?!?James Bond wrote:Lol then what happens when he doesn't enroll at either HYS come fall?Deuce wrote:Just tell them you got a 180, sounds like it's the only way they'll ever love you.

Not to be an asshole, but you spelled it incorrectly as well. It happens to be "ludicrous." I wouldn't have pointed it out if you weren't being self-righteous.bmwhype2 wrote:the misspelling is just a general reflection of his abilities.kkklick wrote:Thanks spell check, I think the OP has a bigger issue than spelling mistakes...bmwhype2 wrote:"ludicras" ...

It just might be that I was quoting his word, hence the quotation marks.T6Hopeful wrote:Not to be an asshole, but you spelled it incorrectly as well. It happens to be "ludicrous." In that case, you also happened to misquote his spelling. He spelled it "ludacris." Either way, why pick on the guy's (or girl's?) spelling when it has no bearing on his situation?bmwhype2 wrote: It just might be that I was quoting his word, hence the quotation marks.
