atresia's December 2010 LSAT Preparation Thread
I am going to be updating this thread daily as I prepare for the December LSAT. I took the October LSAT and received a 164, which is a few points below my PT average. I have uploaded a screen-shot of my study regimen, which will be supplemented with daily descriptions of my work via posting in this thread. By doing this, I hope to maintain a strict preparation schedule, as I need to improve my score by at least 3 points in order to gain admission into the caliber of schools I desire.

I would lighten your load the week of the actual deal. Take at a most 3 PT's timed. 1 untimed. You're asking to burnout.
You have 8 PT's in 4 days.

164 here as well, couple points below avg. Only thing Is I have only a handful of tests untouched, most being very old
I've gotta figure out some way to review stuff.

Re: atresia's December 2010 LSAT Preparation Thread
I did that for the October LSAT and felt very sharp during the exam. My issue was that I bombed the LG section (-10, missed 10 overall in the other three sections). That building of endurance works for me, but if I feel burned out, I will definitely lighten my load.typ3 wrote:I would lighten your load the week of the actual deal. got a 149 twice because of plain bad luck. Hoping for a 160ish score in December.

Good luck! Make sure you develop a plan as to how you're going to attack review materials. Identify trouble areas and fix them. I didn't do that for logic games - my weakest section yet the easiest to prepare for - and it cost me.merc280 wrote:got a 149 twice because of plain bad luck. Hoping for a 160ish score in December.

Yeah same here with the logic games. Its so easy to prepare for it, yet I didn't both times. I'm spending the greater part of my time on this section and maybe hiring a tutor.

Re: atresia's December 2010 LSAT Preparation Thread
Today's recap:
Worked through the Relative Ordering LG set from Cambridge LSAT.
Cumulative: 37/39
PT2, LG1 = 5/5
PT33, LG1 = 4/5 (mistake was due to a missed inference)
PT4, LG1 = 6/6
PT38, LG1 = 7/7
PT6, LG2 = 6/6
PT10, LG1 = 5/5
PT1, LG3 = 4/5 (mistake due to misreading the question - switched M and O)
Overall, I was pleased with my work, even though I usually have no problems with ordering/sequencing games.
I also began working on the Simple Ordering LG set from Cambridge LSAT (will complete tomorrow).
Cumulative: 52/53
PT3, LG2 = 6/6
PT12, LG1 = 6/6
PT23, LG1 = 5/5
PT26, LG2 = 5/5
PT7, LG1 = 6/7 (mistake due to laziness - assumed I separated the two variables as much as possible without making sure)
PT19, LG1 = 7/7
PT24, LG2 = 5/5
PT28, LG1 = 5/5
PT30, LG4 = 7/7
Very pleased with the results, so far. Tomorrow's LG set will be more difficult, though (LG get progressively more difficult in the Cambridge game sets).

Re: atresia's December 2010 LSAT Preparation Thread
Today's Recap:
Finished the Simple Ordering LG set and began the Complex Ordering LG set (both from Cambridge LSAT).
Simple Ordering
Cumulative: 79/86
PT15, LG3 = 6/6
PT17, LG1 = 5/5
PT15, LG1 = 5/6 (mistake due to ignoring one of the setup rules - HJK was not permitted, but I did it anyway)
PT27, LG1 = 5/6 (mistake due to failure noticing that one of the variables could occupy two positions)
PT11, LG2 = 4/5 (mistake due to not going far enough with testing answers - once I found one that 'could,' I stopped looking for 'must')
PT13, LG2 = 5/5
PT31, LG3 = 5/5
PT29, LG3 = 6/6
PT18, LG2 = 7/7
PT32, LG3 = 6/7 (mistake due to not working all the way through the problem - laziness)
PT27, LG4 = 4/5 (mistake due to ignoring one of the inferences from the new conditions added by the question stem)
PT34, LG3 = 6/6
PT30, LG2 = 4/5 (mistake due to not working all the way through the problem - laziness)
PT34, LG2 = 5/5
PT34, LG1 = 6/7 (mistake due to not working all the way through the problem - laziness)
Overall, I am pleased with this set. The games progressively became more difficult, and I didn't miss more than one on any game. I am displeased by my laziness on some questions. I tend to fall into that trap when I don't see an obvious way to answer a question; when I review the questions I missed in the next few days, I will consider what I could do differently.
Complex Ordering
Cumulative: 22/23
PT14, LG2 = 6/6
PT31, LG1 = 6/6
PT26, LG1 = 7/7
PT7, LG4 = 5/6 (mistake due to mislabeling my diagram next to the question - careless mistake)
Pleased with this set. Tomorrow's LG set - the more difficult Complex Ordering problems - will be a challenge.

Today's results:
--ImageRemoved--
Overall, I'm pleased, but some of the games gave me issues (especially the last one). I plan on reworking any game on which I missed a question, so I have a lot of games from this set. I'm reviewing some Ordering games tomorrow, in addition to beginning some In-Out Grouping games (my worst LG type, IMO).
