October 2010 curve

Post by bruin10 » Sat Oct 30, 2010 7:59 am

I've seen scores of 179, 178, 177, 175, 174, 173, 172, 171, 170. So worst case scenario, assuming only a -0 = 180, and because I haven't a 176 yet, the worst the curve can be is -9. However, because there is a scaled score for each at the lower end (170-174), it makes sense that a 180 is at least -1. I'm guessing this curve was at least -10, maybe as good as -12.

It's never been -0 for a 180, at least on any released exam.

The average curve for Sep/Oct exams from Oct 02-Sep 09 was -10.25.

We don't have the PDF documents yet and a lot of people may disagree with me, but I still believe this curve is/was at least a -12. I got a 163 and if this thing were a -9/-10, I would have had to answer 82-83 Qs correctly. Although my PT average was a Raw of 85, I walked out of this test feeling I was in the mid/upper 70's because I did not ace games (the last two sent me into a time panic and I had to make an educated guess on about 5-6 of them in the track/artifacts game. Also, I committed the no-no of running out of time and leaving the last two answers of LR2 blank. So I am having a really hard time trying to see how I got to or broke a Raw of 80 based on those two issues.

My best guess is that I got (23) RC, (37) LR, and (17-18) LG. I felt good on RC and by good that means hitting my average of -4/5. LR was rough for me, as I usually miss -9/-11 total, but I added in the blank misses to the total. On LG, I know I had 17 of them right, but I never feel comfortable when I have to make an educated guess and can't see having gotten more than 1 or 2 correct answers here guessing.

So I think a 78 is a 163 on this test. Won't know for sure until the curve comes out, but either way I'm ecstatic.

The mere fact that 179 was a possible score means we have probably -12 at worst.

I went through the recent PTs, and I think 180 was a -2 curve every single time but twice (55, 59).
Even if 176 is unscored (unlikely, it's normally 178 or 179), that's a minimum of -11. I'd say -13 is definitely possible, considering I'm pretty sure there have been -12s with 179 skipped.

I'm quite surprised - I was really expecting -10.

Edit, curve was both -11 and -12. Raw scores of 89 and 90 were 170.

Ah, the pattern got broke. 2 more correct answer choices were required. Curse you LSAC!

The curve wasn't both -11 and -12, it was just -12 lol

The curve just means the most you can get wrong to get a 170 (which was 12).

Damn, I was nearly right everywhere I thought. RC saved my A$$. Surprisingly, did better on LR2 than I thought

RC -4
LG -6 Damnit
LR1 -7
LR2 -5 (of which 24-26 where missed and 25/26 left blank)

79/101

Wish I could have aced games

Long time lurker, first time poster... I am losing my mind here before I check my actual score, In order to lessen my inevitable heartbreak, how many questions could one get wrong and still walk out with a 160?

Thanks!

-11 on RC for the lowest score I've ever gotten on RC (twice as low as my average). I got 1 question right on that last passage.

Groovy.

-3 of my 4 misses in RC came in time pressure on the last passage. The other miss was the last Q in Animal Communication.

Can't believe I got #6 right. I debated back and forth on that one during the test and thought I missed it.

the curve was pretty generous at the top also, I missed four questions (oddly, one in each section) and I still got a 178. Im going to say I did the whole one in each section thing on purpose because of some obsessive equipoise sensibility. :(

I got #6 on RC wrong :( . #16 on the 25q LR. #4 on LG  . and #20 on the 26q LR.
