Which practice test did you start your prep with?

Post by richardhelms » Thu Oct 28, 2010 10:29 pm

Hey folks -
December taker here getting quite nervous. I'm wondering what test numbers you all started your preparation at? The reason I'm asking is that I started on 33 and moved well into 38 with no problem. About a week ago I took Practice Test 29 and completely bombed it. Thinking I might be burned out, I resorted to a week off, and started last night with 28 - December 1998. Despite the curve being ridiculous, I did worse than I did on 29, and I'm starting to get quite nervous. I have had no major problems in either LG or RC, but LR absolutely owned me.
Curious to know what test numbers you started at where you felt the results were most accurate? I feel like I'm incredibly inconsistent now, and it's getting me quite nervous.

I was able to score VERY consistently in the 20s and 30s, but my first 10 and my last 10 tests were both accompanied by wild swings.

Had 6 straight declines after the 2nd test (went down 11 points in all). Your score may vary by as many as 10 points just based on whether you like the test and luck.

Give it a day, try another one.

I started with the June '07 test, the one that's available online. I imagine that it's a fairly common diagnostic for people, given how easily it can be obtained.

I don't know much about the LR sections on 28-29 or 33-38, but don't let your mistakes get you down; review the tests extensively and figure out why you're getting questions wrong. Variation in practice scores is very common and isn't something to be terribly worried about.

LOL, that was a brutal RC section. Because I think the one before Koch curve was nasty, can't remember what though... I loved the economics and tulips one - very interesting and easy.

After June 2007 I went to PT 45 I think. I ended up doing most of 45-60 as well as 23-29 or so.
