Everybody saying how easy the test is makes it demoralizing

Post by Ishotthedeputy » Sat Oct 09, 2010 7:10 pm

I know I did horrible! Absolutely horrible.

Is the feedback here, biased because TLS is a self-selecting forum - I fucking hope so. How did you guys "breeze" through RC? Does everybody go to Harvard here? Seriously I want to know. What schools did you guys go to?

LG was ridiculous. RC was fucking pathetic with more BLACK injustices. LR was ?????? I wish I didn't have RC first. I couldn't concentrate! I couldn't concentrate! I couldn't concentrate - I read through LR ques like 3 times on some. I rushed through the 2 Passage in RC, Not know anything.

Is there anybody here who thought they flunked this shit.

Whoa Nelly just calm down. It seems to me that you psyched yourself out. Panic never leads to correct answers.

And no, we dont all go to Harvard. At least I dont. I go to HOWARD. :|

I really didn't think the content of the test was that bad i just had trouble with the timing. Didn't even get to read a sentence outta the African american passage so I blindly bubbled. The other three passages i found to be pretty easy though. And
As for LR... A lot of tricky questions so I made a few guesses. I'm telling my self that i mostlikely will be taking it again in dec so when i get my score I don't feel too surprised. Could go either way though...

Yeah, I feel like shit when i read how easy some people thought the test was....

I thought RC was easier than normal, but still hard.

LG- I usually get -0 or -1, and today I had to guess on 3 because i ran out of time...so I'm pretty dissapointed.

LR was not easy but not extremely hard.

Blaaah I knew I could have done better...dont know what happened

Honestly, who knows? I think i did well but I can be totally full of it and wearing rose-colored glasses. In the end, none of us really know until LSAC bestows upon us the lords will.

TLS is definitely self selecting. Its more likely that people are going to talk about their 175's than they are about their 145's.

The test wasnt easy per se. However, it had its positives. The games were pretty straightforward, RC wasnt as dense as usual and LR is LR. You never know with them. However, I personally felt like there were some new/tough questions on LR.

Just relax. You'll be pleasantly surprised on Oct 29th.

Chill. I bombed the Dec 09 and a lot of people did great on that because of the curve. That and some people have an easier time with this test than others.

What freaked me out was that I finished some sections a couple minutes early other than the games. Maybe this means I wasn't reading carefully and bombed those. I know I bomb the ones in PTs where I do the opposite in RCs at least, rush and guess!

Most people on this site are extremely dedicated, have been studying for months and are very intelligent. It baffles me how well people do on LR on this forum but you can not compare your self. And people at my testing center were baffled when I told themwas retaking a 166. You can't let it bother you.

Most people who take the LSAT either don't prepare for it...or just don't care...or have some serious unaddressed learning disabilities.

Almost everyone should score 155+ minimum unless they bombed...

Man, I just feel fortunate that RC was in my favor - for once. I am not an intimidating intellectual, by any means, and I thought the RC wasn't too bad. The LRs took longer than usual and there were a couple of ninja questions, but - for the most part - pretty standard.

However, if you want to complain about LG - I'm down!

Everybody in here looks uphill at those who score over them. I mean, in high school I got a 1280 on the SAT and would have killed to have gotten a 1400 like some of my friends. At the same time, there were plenty of people who would have killed me for my score lol.

It's life, and there's a bit of showboating/lying that goes on as well.

If you're disappointed by the way things went... study harder and come back at it next time.

Because it's so competitive, a difference of 3 points seems monumental. The difference between a 162 and a 165 is just as likely to be luck as preparation or knowledge, though.

I talked to some of the people at my testing site and I don't think any single one of them went north of 165 when I asked them what score they were hoping for. On here, though, you have people talking 177s and 178s and all of that (guilty as charged), but that's partially that the forum attracts those who are already trying to prepare like crazy and know a bit about things, in my opinion.

A decent quote given to me regarding performance:

"It's never as good as you think, and it's never as bad as you think."

I feel that way too to a degree from the last game, and games were my strength during practice; RC was hit or miss (though becoming more of a hit), and LR was my overall weakness, but I was improving throughout my practice. Hopefully I did well in the LR's.

1) TLS is very self-selecting (both in the type of applicant who visits a site like TLS and in the type of applicant who posts on LSAT-related threads)

2) For a variety of reasons, many of the comments on these threads tend to be very rosy.

3) Chill. I can guarantee you that there will be a lot of unexpected joy and a lot of unexpected disappointment when scores are released. Unless you have a legitimate reason for canceling, just wait it out and see how you did.

I counted a ton of people who didn't even bring a wristwatch, which surprised the hell out of me.
