Reading Comp Question

Post by whymeohgodno » Mon Oct 04, 2010 8:49 pm

What do you do for questions that's something to the effect of: Which of these words in the context in which they are used best state the author's opinion of x

If the word was "very poor" which by itself would describe the author's opinion but in the context in which it was used, "very poor" referred to something completely irrelevant to x, would it still fit the answer?

I think I know what you mean. And I'm pretty sure that it doesn't actually matter the context of the word - just the word that describes the author's attitude towards something.

I remember thinking the same exact thing when taking a recent preptest (cant remember which one though). I may be wrong, but i dont think context matters as long as the words/quotes fit the authors opinion

This is what I thought until I took a RC section and I got the question wrong. I forgot the PT# but I'll find it and post the question # so you guys can let me know what you think.

That one is about what the author is using those words to express *role in passage question, rather than what OP is referring to (i think) which is the author's attitude/opinion towards x,y,z from passage.
