Just took PT 39 (164) 170 possible? Forum

So this coming week I will be taking about 3-4 PTs every week until October. I just did PT39 today and scored a 164. I was wondering whether a 170 by test day is a pipe dream or not. I finished LGB and am finishing the sections on time and averaging 0-2 wrong, usually because of silly mistakes. LR kills me, I don't usually finish on time and have to guess, today I guessed 6 of the them with 10 seconds left and got them all wrong. I'm hoping RC will get better the more PTs I do, considering I lose focus a lot and end up rereading. I'm currently in the middle of RC bible and just cracked open the LRB. I work twice a week and am doing a lot of review sessions (trying to see why I got this and that wrong, etc.)

I definately wouldn't say it's a "pipe dream." It won't be easy, but I'd say that it's reasonable with adequate practice.

I'm in the same boat as you (currently in the 163-165 range) and I'm also shooting for a 170. I only have PT's 50-60 to work with though.. But, we have nothing to lose by giving it our all, so go for it and leave no room for regret! Im rooting for u..

If you guessed on that many questions, a 170 was well within your reach.

For LR, get Cambridge 410 Difficult questions ( http://www.cambridgelsat.com/productdet ... stions/336) and do them timed. For example, If I'm doing 20 questions, I tried to do them in 25mn. If you can solve the difficult ones, the others should be easier. Good luck

I just took PT 40 and got a 165. I want a 170+. IT HAS TO BE POSSIBLE!!!

Im at 164 and I'm pushing for a 165. Judging by this thread, I'm guessing its even more possible? Should I be pushing for 170?

Of course you should. Look at the ranking tables. Each point above 165 will make a substantial difference to either your choice of school or the money on offer.

You need to improve by a couple of points per section to get there. Identify your weaknesses and really focus hard on eliminating them.

Then remember, less than 2% of test takers get there.
