If you lack the skills for LG (like I did), you only get hurt in one section. It is much better to be struggling in LG than in the other sections because the skill sets in LR and RC are so similar. LG is the most unique section and the most improvable.
As far as improving goes, learn to read well. I have no idea what that involves, but it is clear that your ability to read quickly and comprehensively is not there. Getting a perfect LG section and only getting a 157 means you must have gotten absolutely destroyed on RC and LR. You need to read as much material as you can... newspapers, magazines (like intelligent magazines, not People) books, etc. and break them down. Figure out what arguments are being made. Also, get your hands on the LR and RC Bibles, if you haven't already. Maybe even take a logic class?
157 ain't too bad, he probably had a -9 on each of the other 3 sections. I just got a 161 on a PT, and I had a -2 on LG, and averaged a -8 on the other sections.
Once you start cutting down your errors in LR, (even down to -5/-6 per section) you'll be solidly in the 160's.
