questions regarding prep test 25 RC wording
I was taking PrepTest 25 and was wondering what is the difference between the "main point of the passage" and the "primary purpose in writing" was? (referring to q.1 and q.7) Thanks!

Re: questions regarding prep test 25 RC wording
I don't have that test in front of me, but in general, the primary purpose questions will have answers akin to "to explain a new theory", "to compare two theories about global warming and . . ."
While a main point will be something like "while global warming is pervasive, there is still a need for data that is based upon..." or "Mamet's style of writing demonstrates his conflicted relationship with ..."
So, the purpose is framed as why it was written and the main point is what it's saying.
