What to do with 100% accuracy on LG but over time limit?
Alright, so I've completed the Logical Reasoning Bible, and I've been doing decently enough on that. I can be accurate and will be able to work under the time limit well enough. In Logic Games, however, although I am able to get 100% accuracy un-timed, I frequently work past the time limit. Perhaps I have not done enough games, but I fear that I will run out of tests before I can improve my timing. Any suggestions? I've been told that that Powerscore for Logic Games often confuses students, so I'm not sure if I should read a book since I can answer all the questions with accuracy. Is time something that takes a while to improve on? Or is it more beneficial to just read a book on typing?
And by "over the time limit" I mean really, really over the time limit. But the fact that I am taking these tests in a noisy environment may contribute to that.
Any helpful suggestions, please?

How much over the time limit?
A more exact timeframe would be helpful.
Anyways, for me I found that getting used to reading the question stem first helped me to save a lot of time. I knew what I was looking for as I read the question and I almost never had to come back and read it again.
I know Powerscores LG Bible says otherwise but you might want to try it out. I went from going 1-2 min over the time limit to finishing 5-6 minutes early (although my accuracy is not 100%).

Have you tried taking individual games and timing them to 8 mins each?

I have not tried, that no, but I think I will tomorrow when I get a chance.
whymeohgodno--Very much over the time limit. However, I take them at work and my coworkers have a tendency to interrupt me a lot. I am definitely improving, though.
My question: I keep reading about people typing games...is that really necessary to do well on the LSAT? I mean, I don't want to get to taking the lsat and then because I don't know something technical about it, I can't answer the question. Is the Logic Games section a section where you really need to study, the way I feel you do for the Logical Reasoning, or it really just kind of practice, like Reading Comp?

Focused, repetitive practice of the same games types or even the very same game to speed-up the mechanics of diagramming.

do each game 3 times... the first time, just try to get all of the deductions correct, and start to look at how the game is put together.
the second time through, make all of the deductions, look at how the rules and questions drive the game as you answer the questions untimed ( aim for accuracy)
the third time through, repeat steps 1 and 2, and watch your timing.
also, it helps to do the grab a rule questions ( can be found as the first question of the game) specific questions ( generally start with if), then do general ( start with which). Finally, do questions that change a rule, or add another rule last.
See which question type gives you the most trouble. Once you do a question, keep your work, and refer back to it for future questions ( other than rule changers)

Since you're at 100% accuracy, you're ready to go ahead and start doing real timed sections so that you can get a feel for where you really are for the real thing. It is important for you to start figuring out your strategy for those games you don't finish and for figuring out when a game is going to take too much time for you to finish and also strategies on guessing and getting an idea of your score. After you've run out of time, go back and finish the games you did not finish (before looking up the answers) and mark them a different way (color maybe) than the questions you finished/guessed on before time was up.
This way you can continue to monitor your accuracy but also start a strategy on time management.
As for reading a book, YES, do read a few different strategies LGB and REA are the two I read . . .If you don't you might be missing some good short-hand tips, guessing tips, secrets/thought processes of the test authors and just plain strategy. You do not have to use their strategy exactly, but it will help you refine your own strategy with the good knowledge you already have. I am still working on timing myself. . .I think that might be a never-ending battle with LG.

Thanks, I will definitely purchase LGB then. What is REA?crysmissmichelle wrote:Since you're at 100% accuracy, you're ready to go ahead and start doing real timed sections so that you can get a feel for where you really are for the real thing.
