PT 33 Section 1 Question 11 (Caffeine)

Post by gdane » Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:37 pm

Im having trouble understanding why (C) is not correct. I can see why E is correct, but why isnt C. Caffeine is not a psychoactive substance, but it can be as physically addictive. Hence (C) makes sense. I know its not right, but why?

Thanks for any help!

"Caffeine can be as physically addictive as other psychoactive substances."

The passage says that caffeine is a psychoactive substance.

Oh wow. I didnt interpret that "other" to mean that. In this case other groups caffeine with psychoactive agents. If it didnt it would have said "Caffeine blah blah etc etc than psychoactive agents".

Thank you for your help!
