My Study Plan

Post by eberryhill7 » Sat Jul 17, 2010 8:48 pm

So I am about to be a junior in undergrad and am therefore planning to take the LSAT in June 2011 so as to get my applications turned in as soon as possible. I have a pretty high ceiling when it comes to this test and am going to try to get the most out of the time available to me. I plan on starting studying in January for the June test. My study plan is losely based off of this http://lsatblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/6- ... -plan.html plan, but with some variation.

The books that I am going to buy are:
Kaplan 180
Powerscore Logic Reasoning Bible
Powerscore Logic Games Bible
10 Actual, Official LSAT Prep Tests
The Next 10 Actual, Official LSAT Prep Tests
10 More Actual, Official LSAT Prep Tests
Individual Tests (The 20 Most Recent)
A Rulebook for Arguments

I am going to divide the Kaplan 180, and the two powerscore books into four sections each with the middle two sections being longer then the first and last. When I review a section in a book I will also find questions of the type in my practice tests and practice those as well. I hope to take 50 practice tests worth of questions during these 6 months.

My study plan will go like this. The hours per week stat is somewhat arbitrary and are really minimum and I will do more to get my work done.

January: 6 hours per week
Week 1: Read "A Rulebook for Arguments"
Week 2: Start Kaplan 180 (Section 1)
Week 3: Start Logic Games Bible (Section 1)
Week 4: Start Logic Reasoning Bible (Section 1)

February: 7 hours per week
Week 1: Kaplan 180 (Section 2)
Week 2: LGB (Section 2)
Week 3: LRB (Section 2)
Week 4: One Full Practice Test and Extensive Review of all questions

March: 8 hours per week
Week 1: Kaplan 180 (Section 3)
Week 2: LGB (Section 3)
Week 3: LRB (Section 3)
Week 4: Two Practice Tests

April: 9 hours per week
Week 1: Finish Kaplan 180 (Section 4) and one full practice test
Week 2: Finish LGB (Section 4) and one full practice test
Week 3: Finish LRB (Section 4) and one full practice test
Week 4: Three full practice tests

May: As Much Time As Possible
Week 1: Three Practice Tests
Week 2: Three Practice Tests
Week 3: Three Practice Tests
Week 4: Four Practice Tests

June: As Much as Necessary
Week 1: Two Practice Tests and relax
Week 2: Dominate the LSAT

Does this sound like the best way for me to use my time? I am somewhat nervous about the decision not to take a class, but I feel like I can get better work done through this method and not have to drop a grand. What do you guys think?

Do what's best for you. As long as you have a plan, and you stick to that plan, you should be fine. Also, be flexible. ;)

Good Luck.
