BluePrint + Powerscore?
Diagnostic this past Saturday: 150
I've never looked at LR, LG, or RC of an LSAT before nor did I know what they entailed.
My goal is to break 170.
I'm signed up with BluePrint courses with Trent Teti.
What additional work should I do besides the course?
The course recommends that we do not start taking full practice exams until September.
I'm planning to take the October 2010 exam.

Re: BluePrint + Powerscore?
You should ask for a refund. Next, buy the Powerscore Bibles and all of the released LSATs. Carefully read the Bibles and complete the exercises. After that, start doing practice tests and meticulously review each test after you've taken it. Look online for help with specific problems you encounter.
Take the money you saved and use it to apply to more schools than you would have originally.

I'm enrolled and I acutally enjoy the course...Trent is hilarious.
In terms of LSAT prep, would it be detrimental to go through the PowerScore LR and LG bible simultaneously with BP material?
For example:
I started the course this past weekend.
I'll spend a week on the LR bible, a week on the LG bible.
Then start taking full practice exams religiously--at least 2-4 a week before the October test.

Powerscore and Blueprint are pretty similar. Also you don't want to be taking 2-4 practice exams a week, you will burn out & waste them. You want to do lots of questions untimed as well.solucky wrote:I'm enrolled and I acutally enjoy the course...Trent is hilarious.

so should I go through the PS bibles or I should just follow the BP 3-month course schedule for Oct?

Re: BluePrint + Powerscore?
In your BP books, you'll be doing every problem ever released, so if you were to use the bibles you'd be redoing a lot of problems. The BP curriculum is incredibly comprehensive, and includes far more practice problems for each question type you learn, so I think you'd be best to just stick with the BP books. If you do the homework, and do it really thoroughly, it'll definitely give you a whole lot to do. Also, you should talk to Trent before or after class one day if you have questions. He's actually really nice and I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you.solucky wrote:so should I go through the PS bibles or I should just follow the BP 3-month course schedule for Oct?

I think I'll stick with going through BP material and making sure that I understand WHY I get each question wrong or right. Would you recommend reading "A Rulebook for Arguments" by Anthony Weston?

Smells like another BP shill account. At least they're doing it once a week instead of five times a day now.

I'm not really familiar with that book. If you've got extra time I suppose you could give it a shot, but that's only if you have extra time. What's included in the class curriculum is definitely sufficient.solucky wrote:Trent is really nice!

I'm going to assume not for the time being, but there was definitely some shady tomfoolery going on recently...Anaconda wrote:Smells like another BP shill account. At least they're doing it once a week instead of five times a day now.

It doesn't appear to be scripted. I would think that most prep test companies have better marketing sense than that.Anaconda wrote:Smells like another BP shill account. At least they're doing it once a week instead of five times a day now.

There were over half a dozen instances of this (brand new posters asking about BP) about a week and a half ago, which pissed off one of the mods, because they were clearly shill accounts.3|ink wrote:It doesn't appear to be scripted. I didn't see those so I could not judge them. The topic on this thread seems plausible and if I were shopping around for an LSAT prep course I would not be remotely persuaded by reading this thread. If this is a marketing scheme, it is poorly executed.Anaconda wrote:There were over half a dozen instances of this (brand new posters asking about BP) about a week and a half ago, which pissed off one of the mods, because they were clearly shill accounts.3|ink wrote:It doesn't appear to be scripted. professionalism/good marketing sense is the last thing most of these people are known for (even if they're good at doing the very limited thing for which they exist)

Re: BluePrint + Powerscore?
I agree that that was very strange, and I talked to one of the mods about it. First there were people talking about how terrible we are (well, at least how bad of a teacher I supposedly am), and then there were a ton of people spamming the board with how great BP supposedly is. I'd like to think the latter group were just misguided fans (for what it's worth, it wasn't us), but I agree that it all looked pretty sketchy.Anaconda wrote: There were over half a dozen instances of this (brand new posters asking about BP) about a week and a half ago, which pissed off one of the mods, because they were clearly shill accounts.
What I'm going to do from now on is this: when someone asks about BP and they're brand new, I'll just PM them. If it turns into some sort of real discussion with real TLSers, I might chime in, but for these one-offs I'll just stick to private messages.

I don't see anyone complaining when Princeton Review posts their promotions on this board: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =6&t=71862bp colin wrote:I agree that that was very strange, and I talked to one of the mods about it. Does PR own TLS? I can't see any other reason to justify a marketing monopoly.

LOL!! If you had half a brain you would have noticed that all those threads of people asking about BP were from different time frames. In other words they weren't new threads they were old ones that some shill from a different company bumped up as he went into each one and accused anyone having anything to say about BP as shills for the company. That mod instead of noticing the different time frames thought all those threads were from that day and accused BP of starting new threads.Anaconda wrote:There were over half a dozen instances of this (brand new posters asking about BP) about a week and a half ago, which pissed off one of the mods, because they were clearly shill accounts.3|ink wrote:It doesn't appear to be scripted. Although the anti-BP shill is true, if you had half-a-brain you would have noticed that some "new" accounts came out of nowhere to post how great BP was.Prime321 wrote:LOL!! Edit: Tom McCarthy and Trent Teti should have done this completely over the phone via mail to leave no trace of the crime. A suppose a proficiency in logic does not ensure proficiency in corporate espionage.

Creating new TLS accounts to make highly defamatory statements will get you banned and the defamatory statements redacted, as the above user has just learned.wild burro wrote:I hear that Trent gives a NICE REDACTED BY MODSsolucky wrote:um, what the hell...I am a real person, really enrolled in Trent's class, and really curious about whether or not I should study simultaneously with the bibles or not or if it'll confuse me. most people have told me it'll confuse me.

LOL. I figured that had to be a fake account, though I'm astonished that the link was removed. What if the link had been posted by a seasoned user and without the defamatory statements? In other words, could someone get banned simply for posting a link similar to the one posted by this user?vanwinkle wrote:Creating new TLS accounts to make highly defamatory statements will get you banned and the defamatory statements redacted, as the above user has just learned.wild burro wrote:I hear that Trent gives a NICE REDACTED BY MODSsolucky wrote:um, what the hell...I am a real person, really enrolled in Trent's class, and really curious about whether or not I should study simultaneously with the bibles or not or if it'll confuse me. most people have told me it'll confuse me.

Obviously Mr. Teti's sexual orientation is irrelevant to his company and the course he offers. But wouldn't a judgment against his company be germane? Wouldn't discovery evidence from those proceedings be relevant as well? I don't see why this site should censor that material. I seem to recall reading several posts on this forum about the law suit filed against Testmasters on behalf of the LSAC as well as links to download a .pdf of that complaint.

I suspect because its of the discount they are offering specifically to TLS members. Or they get paid by PR to do it...3|ink wrote:I don't see anyone complaining when Princeton Review posts their promotions on this board: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =6&t=71862bp colin wrote:I agree that that was very strange, and I talked to one of the mods about it. You will notice that you linked to a topic that was posted by the person who does, in fact, own TLS and is, in fact, a former Princeton Review employee. Ken hasn't made any sort of explicit ban on anyone else advertising here, though, as far as I'm aware.3|ink wrote:I don't see anyone complaining when Princeton Review posts their promotions on this board: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =6&t=71862

Apparently the moderator doesn't understand what defamation means. Statements that are true cannot be defamatory. The fact is that Trent Teti actually wrote those emails. I have no idea why the moderator would want to suppress this information.
I'm reposting the link. We'll see if the moderator censors it again.
