Am I screwed?

Post by dannyde7 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 8:41 pm

I just want an honest appraisal. I graduated summa cum laude with 2 majors (honors thesis in one) two years ago from an Ivy League university. I took the LSAT in February and scored 161-- way below my test prep average, which is now 172 (range is like 170-179) I went to retake in June, didn't sleep the night before and got violently ill during the test and canceled. I plan on retaking in October. Straight up-- do I still have a shot at going to a good law school?

Define "good school". But probably, yes you still have a shot at a good school. Write an addendum when you apply.

I don't think an addendum is necessary for a single cancelation.

OP: I think the 161 probably has you out at the schools that average scores, but there are good schools that don't. Your degree of screwedness ultimately depends on how you score on the October retake. Do you know why you screwed up in February, and do you have a plan to keep it from happening again?

You should be fine with t14 if you can hit your prep average.

I don't really know how to have a plan. When I practice outside of the test, I feel relaxed, on the ball. I always do well. When I get into the testing center I can't think as well. My brain is more rigid and less dexterous. This is basically what happened in February (how do you write an addendum for that?) Do you guys have any suggestions?
