ANOTHER "How long do LSATs remain valid" thread!

Post by Nicomedes » Thu Jul 08, 2010 5:31 pm

Yes, I know they remain valid for 5 years. My question - is it exactly 5 years after the test day (i.e. If I took it in Oct 08, will it expire Oct 13)? Or would I be able to apply in the fall/winter of 2013 to enter law school the next year? I want to eventually do a joint degree program, but doing a post-bac pre-med program would take me until the spring of 2013 to really complete, since I couldn't start this fall. Please don't yell at me about doing a JD/MD program, I understand that many think it is totally pointless. I have my own reasons for doing so, so if you could give me a pass on the ranting I would really appreciate it. So the question is, could I apply for law school the NEXT cycle (I would be applying AFTER Oct 13), when I would apply to the other program, even though I took the LSAT in october 08. I'm thinking I couldn't, that I would have to retake.

-The other option, I suppose, is that I could apply to law school for the Fall 13 Entering class (apply late 2012/early 2013) and then deferring my admission. However, I'm thinking an admission committee would see "oh this guy is just finishing a post-bac pre-med program; but he's applying to law school without applying to our pre-med program (cuz would just be about to sit for the MCAT) so why the hell should we accept him?".

Listen, I know I am getting WAY ahead of myself. I'm not asking for opinions. I'm just curious how LSAT expiration lasts. I did well for me - 172 - and would rather NOT have to do it all over. So anyone have any experience with this? Do LSAT scored expire exactly 5 years after I took it? Or would I be allow to apply after that date - but in the same admission cycle?
