Suggestions for a Re-take

Post by hifromrohit » Tue Jul 06, 2010 11:52 pm

Hey guys

I just joined the forum because i needed some advice

i just took the June LSAT and i did not do as well as i wanted to, i got a 157

Now i signed up for the october LSAT still not 100% sure if I should take it or not but I know i can do better than a 157

I took a Kaplan class and spent like $10000000 on it, was not worth the money. I definitely do not want to take another prep class, but I do need some advice on prep

Now i have been pondering on ordering some test bibles by Powerscore, and I was wondering if those books are a good way of prepping for someone in my condition.
I would also like to hear from some of you guys who have used the Powerscore bibles on your experiences

Thank you guys in advance for your help

Sorry to hear you didn't do as well as you had planned. What did your practice scores look like? It's a very different situation when you scored well below your average versus you were testing at 157 and would just like to do higher. If its the former, probably doing some self-studying would help. I agree that the Powerscore produces good material; you will, however, have to do some work rationalizing all the differences in methodology. (Let me know if I can help with that here on the forums).

If you're really looking for a significantly higher score, you should be thinking about a very rigorous program of self-study or consider a tutor. Fundamentally, for a different score you need a different prep method.

I would highly recommend finding a private tutor and buying the bibles. Even if you can only afford the tutor once every other week I am sure it would help you. I am retaking as well mainly because my LSAT was about 4-5 points lowers than my PT averages. Moreover, a private tutor can also give you advice on law school preparation other than just LSAT help.

I'd heard about that Kaplan program in Boston that cost like $10 grand, but the fact that you shelled out $10 million for a LSAT prep class makes me question your motives.

hey guys

first of all i actually did not pay that much money, it was just an exagerration as to how expensive the course was, (It did cost me a lot, not that much)

and yes my prep tests showed me i could def get around 4-5 points higher.

And yes i shall consider a private tutor, where do you guys recommend i look for one?

thank you for your help
