Please Help Advice?!

Post by balzern » Wed Jun 09, 2010 8:15 am

I just wanted some thoughts on what my score could be...I know this is REALLY hard to say without knowing the curve or how I specifically did but here are my facts:

Average PT was in low 160s
Felt pretty good on LR questions didn't finish last 3 on one section, so had to guess, but other than that I was pretty confident
LG- completed first three but ran out of time and guessed blindly on last game
RC- completed first 3 passages but ran out of time and guessed blindly on last 5 ?s of passage (first 2 were educated guesses from speed reading...

I guess i want to know if I should expect at least a 155 and the highest a 159???

Let me know what you all think, thanks in advance!

edit: I am really hard on myself and critical all the time, this might be coming out, but I dunno- really want some opinions of previous LSATers...

bump: I have some confidence issues; I am really hard on myself and often look at things in the WORST light possible ie I get less than a 155....any thoughts would be helpful

Hang in there. It is going to be a long three weeks for you. If this was your first LSAT then you probably will have to take it again. Seriously. I retook a 170. If you get below 160 then retake. Imagine you got a 159. With three months of concentrated study and the experience of having taken the real deal once, you could retake and get a 165 or maybe a 167. Most schools that would accept you with a 159 would give you a full scholarship with a 167 and a partial with a 165. You also put yourself in a position to get into a whole new class of schools that would not accept you with your first score.
Not everyone should retake. I tutored students for a year to take the LSAT prep and sevral students (usually the one's who's father was paying for the tutoring) would take and retake without doing any prep work or just doing a few hours a week and then 40 hours the week before the test. They might as well just go drink beer and enjoy your first score if that is the way they approach it. If you can do the work, then retest.

Yeah, I just don't know what I really want to do yet, maybe there is still hope for a score that would get me into both schools

Pretty confident you'd get at least a 155 if you've been PTing in low 60s. It's rare to see a drop more than 7 or 8 points.
