168/cancel/cancel?
Hi everyone. I just took the June 2010 lsat. I did pretty well on every section but the LG. I had to guess C on the last 5. I think I missed a total of 5-8 on the rest of the test. I scored a 168 last sept and canceled midway through my December test (sickness). I am trying to decide whether I should cancel this test and just give up trying the LSAT. So either I can have 168/cancel/cancel, 168/cancel/168+, or 168/cancel/168-. I am actually wondering what effect EACH scenario would have on my application. If anyone could help me out it would be MUCH APPRECIATED!

Re: 168/cancel/cancel?
Do not cancel -- I think seeing 2 straight cancels will send up a few red flags--regardless of circumstances. Yes, it could be explainable, but don't do it.
Ok, so you had to guess on the last 5 LG questions. Be conservative, and assume you got 1 of those correct (you may have gotten more--who knows), then add that to the 5-8 others you feel you got incorrect
So you're looking at 9-12 incorrect. I believe that something absurd like -14 was a 170 on the June 2009 LSAT, and while the 170 average is usually more like -10/-11, who knows? Regardless, it's very possible that you got a 170+, and even if you got 12 incorrect (the MAX for our conservative estimate), THAT would still be at LEAST a 168
do not cancel.
good luck.

Re: 168/cancel/cancel?
Thanks I appreciate the info. So do you think that a 168/cancel/cancel is more undesirable than a 168/cancel/168-? I am just worried that its possible that I may get a lower score than a 168 and then have no good way to explain why my score dropped.

Yes, I think that 168/cancel/cancel is more undesirable than 168/cancel/168-
If you got say 168/cancel/167, then perhaps you maxed out at 168 (whether you feel that way or not) in your 1st LSAT, and while you tried to improve, you just couldn't...it's not that hard to understand if I'm an adcomm
However, again, if you did near/at as well as you believe, then I think that you could be in the 169-170 range.
good luck.

to cancel or not? Please advise!
Hey Law Bruin and all others willing to advise,
I suffered a similar fate on the last logic game of yesterday's test. Not getting into specifics, I definitely misinterpreted a rule for that particular game and caught it with too little time left. My previous experiences suggest that the misinterpretation of a single rule can cause you to get most or all the questions for the relevant game incorrect. So, I elected to guess C just like you did. Had I been more composed I probably would have tried to answer the "easier" possibility question for that particular game but I was definitely rattled.
At any rate, I am less confident about my performance on the other sections as you are though...this was my first attempt and your score for your first attempt was higher than my best score on "brand new"/"non-recycled" unofficial material which was a 167. With that said, I felt like the reading comprehension was easier than what I usually struggle through, but I don't know for certain. The other section of concern for me aside from logic game section was my last section which was a logical reasoning section.
We know that the experimental section for this LSAT was a logical reasoning section since there were more than two of them. But for me, the hardest logical reasoning was my last section. I would really love for that section to be the experimental section but I'm told that is unlikely because the experimental section always or almost always comes before the break in that it is one of the first three sections.
This particular section was unique for me because it seemed like the harder questions came at the beginning of the section whereas it usually seems to be the exact opposite for other log. reasoning sections. Perhaps, this is a personal problem due to factors like fatigue and time limitations. Any way, when I did the section I thought it stood out from the other two LR sections.
My situation is little peculiar because I am about to leave for the Peace Corps. In fact, I will be in Ecuador when I receive my test score. I have been told that I have the option to take the LSAT overseas at a U.S. embassy. Presumably, this kind of environment will be more conducive to a good performance. I was definitely rattled and I am apprehensive that I was too content with choosing the first good answer I could find. I took the test at a hotel in Atlanta and the administration of the test was a joke. For one section, a person's cellphone going off coincided with the five minute warning. It felt like a horror movie/ bad joke. It was definitely surreal. But then again, I'm generally a neurotic person and a newly developed insomniac. I may just have too much to think about for the next three weeks.
Any way, do any of you folks see a reason for me to cancel my score?

Re: 168/cancel/cancel?
most top 15 schools average your score, so if you wanna get smth lower than a 168 (which will happen if you don't cancel, according to you), that will significantly hurt your admission chances.
Thanks to the mulches + "field" ambiguity, I will cancel June 10, which will result in 2 cancels for me...so effing what? There is always the October test
