Have I shot myself in the foot?

Post by Nailjohnj » Fri Jun 04, 2010 10:51 am

I have taken around 20 PT and have done a decent job in jumping my score from 154 cold to 168 on my last two and I am planning to take one more tomorrow then just some review Sunday and Monday morning to keep myself warm. The one downside to my testing is that I have just been taking straight tests and not adding an "experimental" section. Is this going to throw me off going into the test? Did anyone test the full 5 + writing section?

I was originally wanting to get a 160 to be happy w/ the test, but now anything less than a 164 will be a fail for me, so I want to forsee any potential issues. Thanks for the look.

I think you'll be fine. I did some PTs with 4, some with 5, never with the writing section. It's definitely not going to be some kind of major curve ball come test day if you haven't practiced with an extra section.

That said, I think reading these boards in the days leading up to the test can only stress you out more.

My 2 cents: don't read about law schools, admissions, or anything of that nature until after the test is over. You'll have 3 weeks to spend going over endless hypotheticals in your head before scores come out.

If you've been diligent in your prep, you have nothing to worry about. Stressing out about what you've done up till now is of no use, and over-thinking minute details come test day will just make things harder. One word: relax. If you feel really awful after the test, just cancel.

I found that when I did 5 section tests, I knew which section was experimental and it made it much harder to focus and concentrate on that section, yet didn't affect my scores on the other sections.

my 2 cents

Just make sure you are fresh and well rested. You are going to be pushing your endurance since you aren't used to doing five sections, but if you get a good night's sleep then you should be fine. Good luck!

I was really hoping for a thread about someone shooting their self in the foot, for real. Plexico Buress style. I threw my roommates throwing knife at a target once and it bounced off and landed in my foot, I was hoping to be outdone.

Oh and OP as long as you don't play the foolish game of guessing which section is real and you eat a good breakfast, don't worry about the experimental section.

You'll be fine.

Stop reading this board before the test. It will only stress you out.

Are you kidding me? This thread is GREAT! Especially the Plaxico reference.... someone making fun of the Giants NEVER gets old!

Good luck to all, we are going to DOMINATE this test!
