How much improvement can I expect?
Just finished my first diagnostic, completely cold, and scored a 150. What would be a reasonable amount of improvement that I can expect by October? Is a 170 out of reach?

You're at the median and you have plenty of time; no score is out of reach.
Decide on a study plan and start doing it. Several guides exist on this site, including Pithypike's (one of this forum's stickied posts).

10 points after intensive study seems to be the norm. Thats what you can reasonably expect.
