Got a 142
So I have taken the Kaplan course....and took it over. I need to get about a 150. In December I scored a 138, and the highest on my practice test has been 142. I am getting much better in games, but am horrible in LR....only getting about 9 right per LR section. I am killing myself with these Kaplan methods for LR. I am taking the June 2010 test.....any advice help for a person that is about tired of Kaplan, lol?

Get the powerscore bibles, read through them and start going through preptest 7-55. This should take a few months which will lead to the Sep/Oct exam. I say you will break 150.

Re: Got a 142
You might want to think about getting a book on Informal Logic to familiarize yourself with some common logical fallacies. They won't cover every single kind that's shown on the LSAT, but the book should give you a good foundation. Like other said, read through the Logical Reasoning Bible over and over again until you understand how to attack each question type. After you take practice LR sections or PTs, review intently and write out why you picked the wrong answer, why it's wrong, and why the right answer is right. It's equally important to understand why the wrong answer is wrong as why the right answer is right. If you can knock out the obvious wrong answers within seconds of reading the question stem, it will save you lots of time to deliberate over two contender answer choices.
Don't take the June test, if you need a 150 and have only scored a 142. Study intensely over the summer and try to pull it up to a 150 in October. You should be PT-ing at around 150 in the weeks leading up to the test.

Just to be sure, you think you having problems with reasoning itself? In other words, is English your native language, which would cause you running out of time/misunderstanding questions etc.?

Read through the "How I scored a 180" articles on top-law-schools.com. Even though you're not aiming that high, those articles still have excellent advice for improving your score in any range.
Also, look at PithyPike's now famous study plan: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =6&t=41657
I've been doing a somewhat altered version of PithyPike's plan (altered because I am living abroad and could not get all the materials she suggests), and in about 6 weeks raised me practice test score 11 points.
With an hour or so a day of work over several months using the Bibles and lots real practice tests, I think you can get 150.
Good luck.
