Difficulty of SuperPrep A, B, C

Post by Knock » Tue Apr 13, 2010 2:39 am

Just wondering how difficult everyone thought SuperPrep A, B, and C.

I'm going to be taking them over the next few days, so just wanted to get a feel for where they stood in the LSAT PT difficulty spectrum. Also, I got a good score on A (including my best two individual LR sections), and just wanted to see if that's a relevant indicator of my abilities or if it's just abnormally easy.

Also, I couldn't find a date on the SuperPrep book. Anyone know roughly when it was created, and where that would be in the PT's (ie, somewhere around PT 10, etc.)

Thanks.

I hope no one answers your post  I want you to do well, and knowing the difficulty of the test may adversely affect your performance. I bombed a RC passage because I realized it was the infamous riddles basins of attraction passage. I lost my swagger and made it way more difficult than it should have been. Take the tests, and try your best. You will do fine :D

Can't you just check the curve to see how hard it was?

Haha, point well taken. Maybe if someone could fill me in on just A then? I just want to know if my high score (highest ever) is reflective of my improving abilities and skills or inflated due to an easy test  .

PS: Now I am fearing this infamous riddles basins of attraction passage!

Yeah definitely, but I still feel that the difficulty of the individual sections on two tests can vary to some degree even if they have the same curve. Also, just want to know what I asked above lol.

I just did them. I found them to have easier LR/RC sections and harder LG sections compared to the newer preptests.

Preptest A is from February 1996. Between PT#17 and PT#19 (PT#18 was from Dec 1992)
Preptest B is from February 1999. Between PT#27 and PT#28
Preptest C is from February 2000. Between PT#30 and PT#31

Wow, you weren't kidding. I can honestly say I haven't done 3 harder LG sections on the whole as the games sections from A, B, and C. The games section on C ripped me apart. In the 35 minutes I answered the first 17 questions, missing 4 of them, for an "honest" score of -11. Wow...this is so discouraging :(

Exactly how I felt. I've gone back and redone those games about 4 times.

Hmm, well this makes me feel a little better. I could use a few good LG sections to get back on track though.

What did you guys think about the LR/RC?

Don't worry, I had the exact (I repeat...EXACT) same score on LG, like you, only managing to finish 17 questions, for A. The first two seemed OK, but then the third and fourth games came out from nowhere. WOW. I hope I don't see anything like that on the actual test. Brutal doesn't begin to describe how bad it was (the test as a whole, IMO). I'm going to suffer some more punishment tonight and Saturday (taking B and C).

I'll be taken A untimed(really just giving 5 extra minutes max on each section) in about half an hour, I'll let you know.

That's how I do "untimed" sections as well. I start off timing them, but if I can't finish in the time limit, then I just keep going and usually its a most of 5 minutes or so, except on SuperPrep B and C which was more like 10/15 minutes over lol.

Gay. I finished everything in time. 159. Maybe I finished the games in 29 minutes but that last game gave me issues as I got 2/7. The RC was fairly simple although careless R.C. mistakes. #20 on the last LR really gave me problems with the terminology in the answer choices, although I got it wrong.

The games sections only get harder too

I'm about to redo the last game in that preptest, it was definitely a killer.

PTs A and C were the first tests I took after a two month studying hiatus. I was scoring in the low 160s back in Feb and was psyched to see my score jump up to a 165 on PT A and a 169 on PT C. Then I took a look at my raw scores (84 and 85) and compared them to some more recent curves and realized that I didn't improve nearly as much as I thought. Did anyone else encounter this?

I thought the LGs were pretty hard on both tests. Only got through three games both times. PT C's RC section stumped me more than usual as well.

So, is the consensus that the games sections in tests A, B, and C are more difficult than the recent ones??

PT A from SuperPrep was the first timed PT I've taken and I kinda bombed the games section: first 2 were fine since they were easy ones, the third was decent, but I didn't even know how to approach the 4th game.

Hey guys. I scored a 164 (84 raw) on SP-A today after diagnosing at a 136 (although I was tired and took the diagnostic test pretty half-assed).

Anyhow, I am wondering if a 164 = 90th percentile or is it a bit lower? I couldn't find the percentile chart...

I found games 2 and game 4 to be pretty hard. In fact, the last game killed me. LR was ok... and RC was unusually easy. I scored a ~ 4 on the RC - a personal best.

I can't get game#2 PT-B.the book has pretty good explanation but no diagram. Not sure if its a hybrid or an in-out game.
(If anyone wants to review PT-A/B/C.I am up for it.)

C has awful LGs but the rest is easy and the curve is loose.
B seemed easy and the curve was overly generous.
Haven't taken A.

I did supertest C today and it was absolutely brutal. The LG section is the hardest I've seen, and I got a -6 on one of the LR sections and ended up with a scaled practice score of 165. I hope to god that I don't see a test like this in October.
