You know, I felt that 57-59 really were a group, with the "replace a rule" questions and the "we [heart] In/Out games" distributions of game types, and that's a group that begins with a June test. Obviously, in '07, Comparative Reading began with the June test. This makes me wonder if there is something to the idea that June is the date on which new trends begin. Usually applicants for the following year take the June, September/October, or December tests, or they take February of the same year, so LSAC's calendar runs more or less June-February (which was the reason for starting the Comparative Reading in June), so this isn't impossible.
Still, I never noticed this before PT 57 (granted, I wasn't looking for it), so it seems pretty unlikely.
