Release date nightmare?

Post by mdeleon4 » Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:07 pm

I just talked to the woman who is responsible for my testing center #1585 at William and Mary.
They told her the test is likely to be rescheduled for the 27th of this month.

There is no way they would release the test score on time. I am still sending out a few apps. I guess i should just send them out and tell them to wait until the feb score.

Should i maybe write an addendum explaining that my test was pushed back on the likely chances scores arent released on time?

I suggest starting another thread on this same topic.

An addendum could not hurt. I do think, however, that either:

1) LSAC will have everyone's score released by 3/1, which is the application deadline for a lot of schools accepting February scores.

or

2) LSAC will release the scores late, and schools with 3/1 deadlines will adjust, pushing back deadlines until all February scores are released.

When LSAC opens will they at least tell us if the score date is going to be pushed back or what the deal is going to be. I know they won't tell specific dates but shouldn't they be able to tell us if they are going to be sent out in waves or all at same time?

I think assuming #2 is questionable. These schools have other timetables that can't be adjusted. Plus most of them have already selected from a wide pool of applicants. They're under no obligation to wait around for late applications to go complete.

Some may, but others may not. Can't count on it.

LSAC has complete control over LSAT scores. I can't imagine any schools refusing to accept February LSAT scores released after 3/1 if they were already planning on including February tests with admissions. Do you not think the 3/1 application deadlines and LSAT estimated release date are directly related? That is why all of these places have the same application deadlines, and they vary from year to year, according to LSAT administration and release dates.

It's not a question of whether they will accept the scores or not, but rather a question of pushing back their admissions timelines. Spaces are being filled.

They might take delayed scores, but by the time they get them, it might be too late in the game at a lot of places.

Anyways, this is from the comment section of this blog: http://lsatblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/te ... l#comments
Just spoke to a rep, she said they have no info on when the make-up tests will be given it depends on the center's availability and can be on any day withing the next 2 weeks. She also said that LSAC is not responsible for delays in score and you have to individually contact your law school to explain this situation. It's up to the school then whether or not to accept your score from the make up test :(

I wish whomever had spoken to a rep had asked them how this would affect score release dates for those who had sat for the test on 2/6. :(

I'd imagine the vast majority of December test takers have already submitted their apps and they've been considered, or will be before March. The competition for February test takers will mostly come from other February test takers and the existing wait list. It's not like more people are completing the LSAT between now and then.

The only thing that would place Delayed February takers at a significant disadvantage would be if they released the scores for those who took the test on the 6th substantially before those who take it later this month. At least for those who take the LSAT this Saturday or on the 20th, there'd be no need for that to happen. If as is suggested, some folk take it on the 27th or 6th March, then LSAC has a dilemma - release some scores or delay everyone.

If they delay everyone, the schools themselves are much more likely to adjust their timetables.

In December they did not hold off on releasing scores because some people had weather-related delays. Therefore I highly, highly doubt they will push back the release date because of the folks who were snowed out. Especially if some of those rescheds aren't happening until later this month.

The 2/6 testers will probably get their scores on Feb. 26th or 29th. Bet on it.

I thought they released all the December scores on the same date.

Let's hope it's the 26th then. Otherwise the wait will be intolerable.
