Feb 6, 2010 LSAT Takers: Most Difficult Section?

Post by monkeyboy » Mon Feb 08, 2010 12:40 pm

If you found more than one section to be exceedingly difficult, please write about it in the thread.

Goes with out saying, but I'll say it anyway: If you didn't take it, please don't respond. If you did take it, please do.

Certainly LG for me.

But I am starting to wonder if it helped me on the other sections. I found myself saying to myself I really needed to step it up since I did so poorly on LG. I'd like to believe that helped, but I am telling myself anything to remain optimistic when my gut tells me my score will be a downer.

I think RC was the hardest. On PTs, I always did best on RC. On the real one, I ran out of time on the last passage and had to make a few guesses with only skimming through the questions and answers. I don't think I did the worst on RC, but I think there was a greater difference between my average and my actual than in any other section.

I hear everyone complaining about LG. I didn't find LG extremely difficult. The games were time consuming, as has been pointed out, but not necessarily very hard. There was one question I felt like had four right answers, and I read it a couple of times to make sure I wasn't interpreting the opposite of what it was asking. I also misread a rule in the first game, which may or may not have caused me to miss more. I know I missed one because of this, but I may have still gotten at least three of the others for the game. In other words, I underperformed on LG, but IMO, it was my own fault, not because the games were harder.

After PTing in the low 170s, I am going to be extremely disappointed with my score.

In all honesty there wasnt a clear-cut worst for me, I skipped around alot of games and only guessed on two at the end. I didn't have the time to disprove wrong answers on games, which is something that helps me out alot. One LR was pretty standard and the one with engineers/bridges seemed pretty easy, I finished with like 7 or 8 minutes to go over earlier questions. My RC was pretty standard although the Wharton passage had questions with similair answers (hard to eliminate incorrect) as well as the video jurors. The science one seemed pretty straightforward as did the african languages. I think I improved my scores, but not to where I wanted or am capable of (155 in Dec, usually a high-160 man) I think I got like 162-163... so Ill take it.

I cannot really say that the LG was 'difficult' relative to anything else, although it IS the section that I have to be in the right frame of mind to do well with...it cost me in June. Felt I did much better this go 'round but still didn't NAIL it like I would have liked. So...for the purpose of THIS poll, I went ahead and tagged it as the poll choice.

Logic Games for sure!! I totally had to guess on the last three questions. Ugh. Felt like the rest of the sections went really well though, but cannot say how they actually went until I get my score. I guess we'll all know in a few weeks.

I think the RC was the most difficult. I was able to finish the section in time, but the topics were interesting enough to hold my attention. I think the LG was pretty simple (I had 2 sections, not sure which was experimental, but I got throught them all with a little time to spare) I honestly dont remember how I felt about the LR.

LG, no doubt. Oaks and Spruces and Willows got me. Hopefully I got the questions I actually did right and didn't miss any inferences or make uncharacteristic mistakes.

RC... was just burned out by the end and ran out of time. usually its a strong section, but i'd feel lucky to get 18 right. games is always a challenge for me and this was ok. also had rush for time on my 2nd LR section, but am hoping its b/c I nailed the first 23 questions...wishful thinking.
