anyone take the lsat in illinois wesleyan university?
I'd really appreciate a detailed run-through of what i should be expecting.
How many people/rooms/buildings/ is there a time-piece on the wall/ noise level/proctors, did most have break at same time? (didn't overlap for me in one administration and it was loud as hell cause takers from next door came and hung out outside of our door).
Anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In addition, is there anyone who has any info about the Wheaton College lsat?

Re: anyone take the lsat in illinois wesleyan university?
as a student who's taken it twice there, i think i can help
IWU hosts the lsat in Shaw Hall. they only host it in one room (both sept. and dec used one room). the room seems to stay the same each time, so i can tell you about the desks, etc.
the desks are really big. there should be absolutely no problem in terms of desk space management (you can lay out all the papers in front of you, plus have room for your pencils and etc). the chairs are a bit hard (no cushion, just wood) but don't really serve to be a problem (you could always sit on a sweater or something if you really really had to). the proctors (2, one main, one assistant) are really laid-back, but they try to do a good job administering the test. there haven't been any problems either time i took the test. there's a clock that hangs up on the front wall, and temperatures when I took it were fine (normal room temperature, nothing particular). right outside, there's a clock tower with a bell that goes off once every half-hour and as many times as the hour is (8 times if it's 8:00) but I don't remember it being a distraction for me during the test (it may not even go off in the mornings, but i can't remember). they started at around 8:30, but made sure most of the people who signed up were there first. breaks were between 10~15 minutes; they didn't resume the test until everyone returned. if someone was still in the bathroom, they'd wait until the person returned. for my second administration, there were a good number of empty seats, so they let us change seats at the last minute if we wanted. they didn't do this the first time, but i guess it's okay to ask if you want (unless they change proctors, i guess).
and.. i think that's all i can recall. i personally think it's one of the best places you can take the test. everything went smoothly, big desks, no crazy temperature problems or loud events outside.. it's a small campus, cozy environment, nothing crazy ever goes on during saturday mornings.
hope this helps.
PS. should i take a picture of the room? i'd be happy to if it doesn't break any silly LSAC rules

i'd be uber-grateful if you could; that'd be epically nice of you.
You see what i did there? I put my 2 favorite words: uber and epic in one sentence. That's how awesome it would be.

I didn't take the LSAT there, but Shaw Hall also has rooms with those teeny tiny desk-chair combo things. I'm not sure whether they'd administer the LSAT in those rooms, but just a heads up for you.

It should be okay. I took it twice there, and it was the same room each time. Besides, it'd be a complete jerk move to switch to those small desks when you have these big ones right next door with no one using them, and the proctors wouldn't do that to us poor 0L students..kumba84 wrote:I didn't take the LSAT there, but Shaw Hall also has rooms with those teeny tiny desk-chair combo things. Any knowledge on the noise level you could impart? Specifically in June, when I'm sure summer school might be happening. Street noise, traffic noise, anything like that?

No summer school at IWU, and Shaw Hall is on a quiet side street so I don't think you'll hear any traffic.jpSartre wrote:Any knowledge on the noise level you could impart? Specifically in June, when I'm sure summer school might be happening. Street noise, traffic noise, anything like that?

Are those desks as close together as they seem? That doesn't look like fun

Re: anyone take the lsat in illinois wesleyan university?
This thread has been so money I figured I'd give this question a shot: Does anyone know if Shaw Hall is open on weekday nights? I know at my university the buildings are usually open past 9pm. I figured I'm less than an hour away, and taking a few PTs in that room would be one of the best thing I could do for myself. Is there a room number also?
joekim1, I would be indebted.
Also if anyone is nearby or going to school there, any interest in taking a PT with other people in the room to replicate that factor?

I'm a Bloomington-Normal native, but I didn't take it at IWU. I took it down here in Decatur (where I go to school). I would highly recommend Richland Community College (in Decatur) if you are concerned about IWU and willing to consider a short drive to Decatur (45 minutes or so). The testing center down here was great.

I've been considering that, but after this thread I figured Wesleyan was less of a gamble. As far as I know I can expect Wesleyan to be quieter than Richland. According to Richland's calendar summer school starts June 7th, and I anticipate loud hallways (that I can avoid).
I dunno, its up in the air for me.

Isn't the LSAT on a Saturday? I don't think anyone will be there. You go to school in the B/N area?jpSartre wrote:Thanks for the advice.romothesavior wrote:I'm a Bloomington-Normal native, but I didn't take it at IWU. It's on a Monday this June. I go to school about 50 minutes away from Bloomington and Decatur

Haha, I think that narrows it down as to where you go... But yeah, I'm sure both testing centers would be good for you. You probably can't go wrong.jpSartre wrote:It's on a Monday this June. I go to school about 50 minutes away from Bloomington and Decatur
