Advice for studying logic games for 21 days

Post by jcc9q3 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 2:09 pm

I took the Lsat in Sept and got 56 correct on three sections and 12 on the Logic games. I actaully got lucky to get 12 correct. I need advice on how to get that number up to 15-16 correct by Feb. 6th. Ive got the logic games bible. Thanks

Ive been having a lot of trouble with logic games as well.

Obviously, go through the whole LGB and make sure you understand the classification of the games - this is probably one of the most important parts as understanding classification will quickly allow you to understand how to diagram the game as soon as you read through it and a proper diagram is the most efficient way to quickly get the answers. So make sure you have all these classifications down and do all the games under each section with a firm grasp of each game and the concepts in them. Once you do that, start working through as many lsat preptests as you can (if you want just the games sections). After you do a section, look over the questions you missed and understand why. Then, goto the LGB and redo a game or 2 from the same category which you missed the game from. (So if you missed a grouping game, after you review and redo the game and get it down, goto LGB and do a few grouping games.) Go back to games which you really screwed up on every 3 - 4 days and redo them, shooting for time and accuracy. Given that you only have about 21 days left, this strategy will serve you best, IMO.

My advice:

After you finish LGB, go to Kaplan LSAT. If finances allow, buy the complete set of logic games (PTs 1-59) for $60. Print them all. Do them all. Redo any that you can't accurately complete in 8.5 minutes.

At least, that's what I've done, but I'm a bit obsessive :-)

Try practicing in different ways. Do a study session focusing on just one type of game. Do practice sections untimed but do everything right. Do timed practice sections. Do sections with all very hard games. REVIEW all the games you do. See why you're getting things right/wrong. Make sure you've got all the diagramming etc. down, don't just rush into games and tell yourself you'll figure out the diagrams as you go.

Also, if you got 56 correct on the other three sections don't forget about the other 19 points out there besides logic games.
