Re: Stats from 3rd timers??
I think it depends on the rest of the application and on the school. For the former, in my case, the LSAT was the weakest part of my application (3.8+ at a top undergrad, decent recs), so I think it was easier for the T-14 I got to "forgive" the 3 scores. Someone who is already a low GPA splitter probably will get less credit for a moderate LSAT bump.ntzsch wrote:do all you 3 timers feel that you have been evaluated based on the highest? Or do you think you may have a taken a bit of a hit in admissions?
i really want to know being that a lot of you got really good scores 3rd time around , and were probably looking at some T14's.
congrats
As far as the schools go, at some I can tell you the 3 scores makes no difference, its all about whether one of your 3 scores is at the median or 75th. Other schools may act differently.

Yeah, I got a very quick turnaround acceptance from UVA. I'm hard pressed to believe this would have been the case had they considered my first two scores very strongly.

Re: Stats from 3rd timers??
Like others have mentioned it was nerves for me. I got a room near the test site and took 3 sleeping pills around 9pm, that was really the only thing, I barely prepped for the 3rd time.
Before the last two administrations I was testing around 170, going as high as 177ish (can't remember highest). In the end though a 165 was much better than a 159 so I settled with it. I guess I'm just not a game day performer, I only scored around 1100 on the old SAT (granted I did 0 prep, nothing, I had never even seen a sample question) yet pulled a 4.0 at University (degree gpa, not overall).

Did basically zero prep before the third time. Beta blockers, ftw.

Re: Stats from 3rd timers??
awesome news.
Im feeling much more comfortable with my prep this time around. Im not being as rigorous, except with the games, which killed me both times and I really should have done more practice with before my retake.
*crosses fingers* I hope I can be a "161; 161; 170+" person. ahh.
Ive come to realize that after a certain amount of prep, you just know the stuff and it comes down to being calm enough on game day to perform on what you already know.

Burn out on my 1st retake killed me. I did maybe like 8 hrs prep/wk, for 4 weeks, leading up to the 2nd retake. Also, never looked at a curve when going over tests b/c I thought it was bullshit. Hitting 170+ on PTs ≠ real thing. Just make sure that you're strong in all 3 areas. I slacked in my RC "reprep" and it probably cost me a 170+. Seeing as my 3rd test was non-disclosed, I'll "never" know.
Applied to UVA last week. Already dinged.

With a 160 LSAT, you would have needed a 3.85+ GPA and an ED early in the cycle to have any chance.Bikeflip wrote:160, 157, 168

Why would you think he/she would have any chance at getting into UVA with a 160 LSAT even if they ED.im_blue wrote:With a 160 LSAT, you would have needed a 3.85+ GPA and an ED early in the cycle to have any chance.Bikeflip wrote:160, 157, 168

Yea I'd like to know that too. I just don't see how a non-URM 160 LSAT flies anywhere in T14.

Re: Stats from 3rd timers??
I'm not surprised I got dinged at UVA. It seems they're trying to raise their medians, and with applications up this yr they can be far pickier. I'm just a bit shocked at the speed in which it took. Oh well, gotta love fee waivers.
