retakers: will you notify schools of 2nd LSAT result?

Post by Kulax22 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 11:57 am

I can't seem to get a definitive answer on this. So apparently LSAC sends the schools your new score - I realize that. But for all of us retakers, how many of you plan to actually write the schools regarding your newer score anyway?

Basically - is it worth sending an addendum for a jump in score? Is this annoying, or a way to get the adcomm's attention and show your interest?

I am paranoid that somehow LSAC should not be trusted... and that somehow you can get lost in the shuffle with adcomms. For me, I applied early but notified them of a retake. Not sure if that means my app. was automatically "frozen" until now. I want to make sure I'm doing all that I can without being annoying.

I still don't know what to do about the addendum. I think I'll include something really short - like two sentences. I'm trying to figure out a way to focus on the second without trying to make excuses for the first...

I'm still wondering how many people plan on doing this. Anyone care to chime in with a strong opinion?

I took the September LSAT and will be retaking in Feb after already applying to most schools on my list. I've contacted all of the schools and some froze the application while awaiting the second score and others did not, so it depends. I'm waiting to actually take the test and get a score to decide on the addendum part...

I took the LSAT in September and submitted my applications in November. I attached an addendum telling all the schools to wait for my December LSAT score before deciding. For whatever reason, this did not work at all schools, because some schools emailed me telling me that that my application had been sent to the committee for review. As a result, I emailed every school and told them to hold off for my December score. The day I received my December score I emailed very school again telling that my new score was ready. Most schools were very happy that I stayed in touch.

TL;DR- I would email each school to tell them about your score increase. They will wait for the LSAC report but its a good heads up.
