I'm not even clear on who's taking.

Pretty sure RaiderRed is going to get like a 168 or something, because he doesn't really give a shit (relative to everybody else).

Zacboro is probably going to be low 170's, then he's gonna humblebrag by asking if he should retake, and he's probably going to end up retaking.

Cambrian seems like a 173-175.

Rigo are you even taking? 119.

Re: dieting, though, I'm a big fan of IIFFM. The way our bodies work, it honestly doesn't matter if you eat 2000 calories of chocolate or of lean protein, you're still going to lose weight if you're running a calorie deficit. The trick really is just to find balance in your macros and make sure you're getting enough protein and fiber to keep you full. I used MyFitnessPal and lost 50 lbs while also eating bread and sweets and everything I like eating- just less of it.
TCR
calorie deficit -> weight loss is an oversimplification.

Yes, due to the laws of thermodynamics, if you eat less than you burn, you will lose weight. But the goal here is to lose fat and not muscle, right?

If we want to lose fat and maintain muscle mass, it becomes much more complicated than creating an energy deficit. The mechanisms by which our body determines where to draw the deficit energy from are regulated by many different hormones. To over simplify, we more readily catabolize muscle tissue because it takes less energy to metabolize protein.

TDEE is also a super mega rough estimation. Calorie counting won't get you too far because our bodies burn different amount of calories on a practically minute-by-minute basis, and I'm not just talking about exercise vs sedentary.

Unfortunately, genetics are a also significant factor when you're trying to go beyond maintaining a "healthy weight". Yeah, if you're overweight and want to just lose weight to a manageable amount, screwing around in the gym and eating at a deficit will get you your result. You don't need to deal with the specifics. But if you're trying to shave off 3% bodyfat without losing strength or endurance, you have to be much more meticulous with both your diet, workouts, and lifestyle habits (sleep, stress, yada yada).
well yes, but that is where macros and such come in(of course yes sleep is huge and stress can be troublesome) I mean (almost)no matter what, when you cut and try to lean down you are going to slow some muscle and strength. When you are in a deficit the only gains one would really make are "nooby" gainz. Yes if you are trying to get to 10% BF you need to have it all laid out what you need to eat and stick to it. Losing a little but when your up 20%+ a general idea of where you need to be and the macros should get you somewhere, just not too far(all depending on where you fall) The only real way to find what works best is to figure out the calories you burn, what you need, get a decent deficit going (with macros worked out) and test the waters with some tweaking as you go to see what works best for your body

This has good info. I eat heavy amount of nutrient dense carbs post workout. Sweet potatoes, squash, turnips, carrots, and beets are all excellent options.

I personally have never done ketosis, but thought it might be an option for Raider if he'd exhausted other options.

How generous of you. I'd be content with a 170+

Just did PT 65 LG (retake from 3-4 weeks ago) and went -0 timed and w/ scantron.

There just aren't enough characters ITT.

Maybe scholarly comes back with a photoshopped/real 180 and is an ass to everybody? That could be fun.

Feb is mostly retakers, so it might be different, but in most waiters threads, only like half of the regular posters get 170+. It's depressing I know but I hear law school is more of the same, so might as well get used to it.
