I try to find a gap in logic in the question before I even look at the answers. I ask myself, what make or break this argument. Usually, I come up with something before hitting the answers and It's generally there. If not, then just apply opposite answers to all the questions and see what happens. But, for these I always find I do better if I come up with an idea of what's missing before going to the answers. Hope that helps!Instrumental wrote:Those are the ones where they ask you what information would be best to know in evaluating the conclusion right? Thanks, you guys! I usually take a crap ton of time on these questions because i just don't have a set way of doing them. I'm going to drill a few of these questions in my cambridge book, although they literally only have 5 of these evaluate questions in this book but whatever, haha.cherrygalore wrote:I try to find a gap in logic in the question before I even look at the answers. I know it's definitely motivating me. Wasn't even planning on applying to Yale and they emailed me yesterday, I'm like why are you trying to get my hopes up when my GPA is below your 25th!Hobbesy wrote:Same. Hello. First post here. Trying to find some helpful tips on Most Strongly Supported. I think the hard proved logic of all the other questions is throwing me off on types like these where there's more of a leap involved. Any advice would appreciated!

I think of these as the correct answer being the "missing conclusion". Pay very good attention to specific words like many, some, all, often, sometimes, and so on. Whatever you pick has to be, well, strongly supported by the stimulus. They're kind of similar to MBT questions also, imo. Try to anticipate and link stuff together like you would in MBT questions.harveybirdman502 wrote:Hello. First post here. Trying to find some helpful tips on Most Strongly Supported. Yeah I think of them as bastard MBT questions too. IIRC PS bibles put them into the same category.Mikey wrote:I think of these as the correct answer being the "missing conclusion". Ok thank you. I found a couple people recommending the same thing, which helped me in my drills this afternoon.Mikey wrote:I think of these as the correct answer being the "missing conclusion". Not very easy to eliminate answer choices on these questions.

I think the lesser degree of certainty makes these difficult. Could be true choices can seem more appealing than with MBT.Greenteachurro wrote:Yeah I think of them as bastard MBT questions too. Yeah for sure, they're definitely not the easiest. But, I think there's a few things that can be eliminated right away with each one of these questions, like anything that goes beyond the scope of the stimulus, and outside information can almost always be eliminated quickly. Which will leave you with 2/3 answers usually, and from there its just a matter of going back to the stim and verifying that everything being said in the AC was actually mentioned in the stim. Usually there's something that goes too far, or is just a little too off to be the right answer.

For anyone else, here are some possible MSS wrong answers I pulled from a blog:
1. New Actor: introducing a new topic and treating it as though the stimulus' evidence applies to it.
2. Relationship: linking two or more actors in a way that is not supported by the stimulus, i.e., claiming that one causes the other.
3. Degree of certainty: making claims that are too strong, i.e., "too certain," or too weak based on the key language in the stimulus.

They're valuable for practice definitely, obviously not as valuable as the newer ones but definitely better than trying to read the economist or whatever some people suggest doing. wouldn't depend on them but they can help build good habits, i burnt through 29-38's RCs trying to build the habits that I use .nimbus cloud wrote:PT10. Well, these were a joke. I am not sure how valuable it is to do the earliest RC passages. I have a feeling they are not going to help me with lacquer. Any opinions?
