Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Okay...
1. I'm not abandoning my studies, I'm just saying that it's not wrong for me to prioritize the LSAT because my gpa is already absurdly high, something like 4.15... especially since I tend to overthink/overwork and stress out about school unnecessarily.
2. PTs 30-7X should be fresh for me, minus June 2007. I used 1-29 for LG drilling and I'll probably use the other sections from those for experimental sections. I think next week I'm going to start doing 2 per week, in chronological order.
3. Do you guys ever read the threads here complaining about law and law school and think "I'm making the biggest mistake of my life"?

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Concerning #3, sometimes I worry about that, but then I remember that I have a strict plan to minimize/avoid debt while going to the best school given my goals that my "stats" allow. If I don't meet my LSAT goal this June (my 3rd take), then I'll simply move on and maybe consider an MBA, MPA or something. Having a smart plan and sticking to it, I believe, is the key to not making a gigantic mistake in regards to law school.RZ5646 wrote:Okay...

Abyss - maybe some of us are athletes
and yeah, like you said people shouldn't work out every day. there should at least be a rest day.
RZ - not accusing you of abandoning your studies. was just saying I'm in the same boat and didn't want to seem like I was saying drop everything for the LSAT haha. Are you starting with 30 this weekend or next weekend? if so I might do that also but still with just once a week with the purpose of helping me stay on track with a consistent schedule.
eta: and RZ, how close to graduation are you that you are worrying about post graduation? Have you had any internships or have you started your job search? I can edit any of this out later if you'd prefer that

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Hopefully this weekend but it depends on what else I'm doing. I was actually going to do it last weekend but I get caught up in school and work and then suddenly the week is over already and I haven't even touched my LSAT stuff.JackelJ wrote:Abyss - maybe some of us are athletesand yeah, like you said people shouldn't work out every day. there should at least be a rest day.

eta: Jackle: I'm a junior so if I were to search for a job I still have a little time, but I'm a liberal arts major at a mediocre school so I'm not sure how that would work out. No internships either. K-JD seems like the best path right now, I just wish I had the option of taking a gap year or two.

February and March: Heavy drilling and 1 PT a week for identifying weaknesses and to monitor progress
April and May: 2-3 PTs a week with extensive review, and some light drilling to work on weaknesses.
This is my rough plan. I'm probably going to do my first PT 40 the weekend following this one.

If going to law school, being rigorously debt adverse is tcr. Hell, even just living expenses for three years is pretty pricy.

RZ, maybe in your case TFA/Peace Corps/Americorps is actually a good ideas? It's a gap year option that doesn't rely on someone giving you a job and has the bonus of looking good on LS apps.

I saved like a crazy person to pay off my undergrad debt in less than a year. Granted, it wasn't that much, but $200k+ debt would give me way too much anxiety. That's a home mortgage right there.

Public policy. I ended up not using it whatsoever in my post undergrad job, and I probably never will. I'm not really itching to be a state paper pusher or analyst.gamerish wrote:What did you major in, Rigo?
I actually realized once I started taking classes in my major that I enjoy politics way more than government, if that makes sense. Public policy & administration is way more practical than political science so I stuck it out though.

Rigo was it a very prestigious UG? I'm surprised you could pay off your debt so quickly with a non-stem degree.

I have the misfortune of attending an expensive public school. Ivy League price with state school job prospects!
(slight exaggeration, but not that far off)

Expensive public schools? Is that like going to UC vs CSU here in CA?RZ5646 wrote:I have the misfortune of attending an expensive public school. Ivy League price with state school job prospects!

I lived at home and commuted my first two years so that saved me probably ~$30k in room and board.

Yep. I made so many terrible decisions regarding college, but I honestly didn't know any better and no one was there to help me (high school guidance counselors are a joke).nlee10 wrote:Expensive public schools? Jackel, et al: Aren't TFA and such extremely competitive though? And yeah, I'm getting my stuff together to apply for a bunch of law/gov-related summer internships now. I've been employed at part-time jobs since high school, so I'm better off than a lot of people, but it's not exactly "professional" WE.

Re: The Official June 2015 Study Group
Any WE is better than none when looking for jobs out of college. Most places don't expect college grads to be able to go from 0-60 in a week of starting and they expect to have to train you but what they don't want to do is teach you how to act in a professional environment and hold responsibilities. And any WE can help with that. So don't downplay working part-time, make it work for you.RZ5646 wrote:but it's not exactly "professional" WE.

I do that shit all the time. Usually I answer the question for whatever variable I added last on the diagram instead of the one the question was actually asking about.gamerish wrote:Seriously, I hate myself.
