If the two options r big law or PI, I'm in the biglaw camp hopefully in a secondary Midwestern market

While those don't exhaust the options of course, I'm under the impression that unless you want to do PI it will never hurt to start in biglaw and for many things it'll help to do it for a bit

dont care ab big law whatsoever. I just wanna work in a private field of my interest and make good money doin it. prestige doesnt matter to me 1%

Yea, from the research I've done (uh...largely on TLS) it's a small market and is notoriously tie-driven.
