woke up, reviewed the LG of my PT from yesterday while watching The Flash, then watched Arrow while eating breakfast, now work and then prob watching a movie

I was thinking about it this morning. I was a lurker during Sept., and decided to actively post in the Dec. thread because I thought all the study threads were like Sept.

I realllly hate traveling. I can never fall asleep on planes, so when I finally arrive to my destination, I always look half-dead. Smh. #zombiepepper

On the plus side, I did get a fair amount of LSATing done on the plane. Started working on that difficult packet that y'all adore so much & yeahhh, that stuff was intense

Oddly people in acceptance threads I follow are being rejected/waitlisted at or above medians and sometimes 75ths. Not a ton but a few. What causes this?

I can't sleep on planes too because either a) I'm too busy being terrified, or b) I'm really drunk to alleviate said terror and having too much fun.

No WE, bad PS, state residency for public schools, stuff like that.

UT is rejecting a ton of people with good numbers and accepting a ton with bad numbers this year. To me, its a good thing cuz they look at the whole app and don't base it completely off stats. For a guy who worked 4 months on perfecting his PS and worked to get LOR's from judges and law professors, it pays off for guys like me cuz of my ass GPA

Someone more knowledgeable would probably be better suited at answering this, but I mean like schools only have so many seats available. Like if (exaggeration) they get 10,000 applicants with a 4.0 and a 180 they can still only accept as many seats as they have. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I look at it high scores are only necessary for getting accepted. not sufficient.

High scores are neither sufficient nor necessary.

Residency is a hugely important factor for UT.

ya, for example at UT, they HAVE to fill their seats with AT LEAST 65% TX residents. So people from texas with 166 and 3.5 have just as much of a chance as OOS with 168 and 3.7, all else equal. Perhaps a bit extreme, but you get the point.

Not true. Schools hand out more acceptances than they can accommodate. Not everyone matriculates once accepted. That's why waitlists exist. If they don't get as many students matriculating, they go to the WL. It's like a dodge ball team, except you get to sit out if you don't like the team that picks you.
