Hello again everyone!

I have completed the Trainer, save for one or two lessons. I am now going to start drilling Cambridge bundles from PT 1-39. I have the three copies of every LG ("pithypike style") is the plan and I definitely need to improve in games. Actually, I need to improve on all three sections haha.

I feel like the Trainer has given me the tools to succeed and now I just need to practice using these tools. For example, I am better (but not perfect) at notating rules, much better at diagramming, and while I am not good at making inferences now, I hope to be by the time I am done drilling. Same goes for LR, I know what to do on each question (I had absolutely no strategy before the Trainer) and now I just need to practice and get really good at it. I hope to improve RC as well.

Drilling (and good review, of course) is where the growing really happens. Let's do this.

I'm planning on June (or Oct.) for taking the LSAT. I'm shooting for Tier2 school..... parents have a lot of lawyer friends, many said don't worry about getting into a top school (unless it's top10) because a law degree is a law degree.

I'm fine with Colorado, Hawaii, Pepperdine, etc. Would prefer Hawaii since they have the JD/MBA program. I scored 146 on practice test, and am just now preparing to study. I have the LG bible book and the workbook, loads of practice tests as well as some other books . Do you think from now until June I'll have enough time to bump my score to around 160 or high 150s? I plan on studying A LOT. Currently at University of Hawaii with just 3 classes left (one day a week!) and no job. Should have plenty of time to study for this.

Do you guys bother studying the ''weird" games? (like the last two in pt 18's lg section)

Making me look bad

I only did 20 LR questions, 1 RC section, and 1 chapter in the Trainer.

But I did spend 30-45 minutes making copies of 10 RC sections so that makes us even!

Sure do. Figured someone would have some good advice for my situation. Clearly you are choosing better schools than I. Good for you. My question is regarding the LSAT, not if my chosen schools satisfy your high standards.

I think you're going into this with the wrong mindset. You shouldn't aim around 160 or high 150's. That's like saying I'll aim to screw up on these parts, but in this part I'll be flawless. Aim to be perfect at everything and you'll easily get a 160.

Just keep in mind, it is not a sprint. Don't you even dare think about sprinting through all the drilling just for the sake of saying you did a bunch. Drill, then REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW. The review is where you will truly understand how to hone your skills, then you practice what you learned from the review with more drilling (while also repeating the questions that you got wrong, got correct on accident, or weren't confident in answering).

Everyone has different goals and that's fine. HOWEVER, the bolded is incredibly not true. It used to be true but I don't care what kind of goals you have - this is the most false thing that is often purported as the most true. Look at some of the employment prospects of TT schools - 50% employment...60% employment..30% unemployment.... It is not that we are all egotistical assholes with incredibly high standards. It is that we are mostly realistic and realize that success is limited if we were to go to a TT school WITHOUT a scholarship. It sounds like (and I may be wrong) you are just hoping to get IN to these schools. You should have the same goals as us. This goal would be a 170+ and this 170+ would not only get you into these TT schools but it would give you a full ride.

Thus, don't bash us for telling you about our high standards (though Louie, you were a little harsh). I think what Louie meant to say is that - your goal are fine - but your goals STILL require the same score as us (notice that I said require. If you go to a TT at sticker, you are basically committing financial suicide 80% of the time - do you like to gamble?)

Also, this is anecdotal evidence but I am seeing this first hand. Someone in my family just graduated from a TT. He/she is $250k in debt, with only a part time job, and is currently working retail. Seriously, don't do this to yourself by aiming low. Aim high! There is no reason not to.

Then, having seen the light, come back to TLS knowing this: If you're really interested in being a lawyer, 170+ is not a lofty goal. It is a necessity. And for the vast majority of us, that score doesn't magically spring from some kind of elusive born genius. It's a product of the work we're doing right here in this thread.

For me the reality is I spent too much time partying and surfing in my first two years of school instead of taking my grades seriously, so my GPA is not stellar. I'm admitting fault, and am no academic scholar. But I've cleaned up my act and sobered up. A top school simply is not an option, unless of course I score insanely good on the LSAT. I will aim high, but realistically I will probably end up going to Hawaii or another school that isn't high up. The law firm I worked at for 8 months was ran by an attorney in his 30s who went to a school ranked over #100. Somehow it worked out for him. But then again he got into the practice 10 years before me, so that plays a part I'm sure.

I see myself in Hawaii. I've never lived in the cold and need to keep my sanity if I'm going to practice law. Grew up surfing and that's the only activity that balances my mind and keeps me grounded. Seeing how stressed the attorneys were at the firm I worked at was a wake up call. It isn't a glamorous and stress-free career. We'll all want to shoot ourselves in the head at one point or another. Go some place you will not regret.

I won't have any debt after I graduate. So while employment statistics are daunting, I will not have loans to pay back (about the only good thing going for me lol). I can understand your drive to aim high, I applaud you. Had I taken my grades more seriously in college I'd be doing the same but reality (and many bad decisions) seems to have trumped those high aspirations. Maybe in my next life

Thats why we advocate retaking and minimizing debt.

I just don't like the idea of people undervaluing the work we put all our effort into.

Did about 70-75 flaw questions last night. I lost track. Aiming to do 75+ LR questions a day until I finish all of Cambridge.

I checked out a book yesterday at the library. It made me feel terrible. I read three chapters last night. I think I'm going to go return it right now.
